Hi all
i've made a separate installation of pto for all events took place from late 43 till the end. So i installed Mr Micronesia-Phillipines-Formosa-Marianas-Palau. i made a test flight over Guam (pic #3) and dissapointed. I thought that something went wrong and deactivate Micronesia. I flew again over Saipan (2)-Iwozima (1) and had the same.
Can somebody help telling what's wrong?

cheers

Hey nick! I have the same problem, indeed , i have made clean installs and the problem still right there!. I thought taht it happen only to me, because i have my cfs2 cd´s striped and i found many error labels come from this reason, and I thought this problem was the same reason. Now i´m thinking that i must need other addons not mentioned in the readme instructions:isadizzy:

Hi guys;

are you sure that you followed MR's "read-me's"? It looks like you are missing textures, are you sure you followed MT's read-me to the letter? Remember that some of his packages were done for PacTex 1&2. some for Rhumba's. If you have them in Scenerydb make sure they are activated.

Hi
i followed MR's orders and also i copied / paste the contents of scendb/world/texture to root/ texture but...................

cheers

Sorry guys, but you only get this effect if the contents of your root TEXTURE & SCENEDB/WORLD/TEXTURE folders don't match, or there is a missing texture (like a dedicated coastline or road bitmap).

Make sure you copied AFTER you have put any new textures into the game.

CFS 2 uses a texture reading hierarchy. For each bgl in the add on SCENERY folder, it checks the add on TEXTURE folder first, then the main game TEXTURE folder.

It's a quirk with add on scenery (created with G2K) that the contents of the root TEXTURE & SCENEDB/WORLD/TEXTURE folders must match, otherwise the game doesn't understand which texture to use & defaults to standby green/brown/blue squares.

Thank u uncle for your help!
Which texture must be installed first? pactex or MR scenery?
Thank u again!

As a sidebar...

I believe that MR had made a posting of which of his were done with Pactex/stock mesh and which one's were done with Rhumbas tex/mesh.
MAybe still at his site or if he chirps in he can redirect us to it.

Mission, I believe it is Pactex THEN MR's.

Hi again
i deactivated all-delete texture & scendb/world/texture folders-copied/paste from orig cd-i installed again place by place ( Micronesia-formosa phillipines etc) following its ones orders. Finally i copied/paste all contents from scendb/world/texture to root/texture and problem remains.

@ fiber : nowhere saw (at readme) that specific scenery conflicts with Rhumbas mesh

NIK..

the posting that I referred to is NOT in the "read-me's'', rather it was in these forums concerning the possible conflict of the Rhumbaflappy mesh and MR's sceneries. I will try to look for it when I have a chance.
Here is MR's website, look here (f you already haven't) maybe something there will help you.
http://www.mask-rider.net/MaskRider2008/index.html
Here is a psot from MR's site; LWM TYPE SCENERY included in these collections requires that you copy contents of your scenedb/world/texture folder to your main CFS2 texture folder. Its a one time deal- it won't hurt a thing. NOTE: If you are going to install PacTex (highly recommended) wait until you have done so before copying these files.

Back in 2009, it appears there was a posting that resulted in a lengthy discussion on the meshes and MR sceneries. It is here; http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?20662-Rhumbaflappy-DEM-S-AND-KWCFS2
A good starting point maybe post #23

BTW: did you ever see the "How to guides..." by Rami regarding the installation of PTO and ETO theaters? He wrote a very good guide for the installation of these game mods that answered a LOT of questions.

Hi guys,

MR Marianas is compatible with Rhumbas mesh. Some of his older secnery packages were made prior to Rhumbas mesh, & have (small) issues.

Nik,

I took a flight over my install of MRs Marianas, & your last screenshot seems to suggest you haven't copied all the contents of MR_Marianas/TEXTUREs to the root TEXTURE & SCENEDB/WORLD/TEXTURE folders. Specifically, it seems the road network is causing problems, which are:

Straightvroadssu.bmp & Str_mjr_rvoadssu.bmp

The complete list of these textures is as follows:

waveshoresu.bmp
vrailwsu.bmp
Straightvroadssu.bmp
Str_mjr_rvoadssu.bmp
JBvrocksu.bmp
grass002-256sq-8.bmp
dirt034-256sq-8.bmp
dirt019a-8.bmp
dirt013-256sq-8.bmp
coralsu.bmp

These must be copied into both destination folders, :blind:Maskrider's read me is quite clear on this -

8. Next, drop just the contents of the “TEXTUREs” folder into your CFS2/TEXTURE
folder. If asked to over write say “YES!” or SHIFT+”YES”.

I hope this helps.

Hi Guys
@fibber
i also went to Mr site i havent mentioned above. As for the copy/paste i had done it.

@ Uncletgt
i re-checked the texture folder (marianas) and was ok. But cause i wanted to be sure i copied/ paste again.
You wrote that Marianas its compatible with Rhumbas mesh. Then thats the prob.

cheers

Yeah this works! and than ku very much for that. I was flying in many places of pacific, and I dont know why I still having problems with DEI scenery.

Nik

It's not Rhumbas mesh. I fly with Rhumbas mesh & have no issues.

You say you copied textures to the root TEXTURE folder. Did you also copy these to the SCENEDB/WORLD/TEXTURE folder?

Remember the content in these two folders must match. If you get the copy paste install sequence wrong the folder contents don't match, & you get the BLUE/GREEN/BROWN squares.

Something in those two folders is not the same - that's why you're seeing the squares.

So, copy MR_MARIANAS/TEXTUREs to

CFS2/TEXTURE

and

CFS2/SCENEDB/WORLD/TEXTURE

folders

Hi
i have done it. By the way i remembered that i had copied/ paste to root/texture and at scendb/world/texture yours " CFS2_Tropical_UT" . I don't know if that's the prob.

Tonight i 'll deactivate all and i'll start installing one by one starting from Marianas and checking.
cheers

OK Nik, best of luck.

I also have my Rhumbas CFS2 tropical textures both as my default textures folder, and as a separate scenery layer, so I don't think that should be causing issues.

Just remember to do all your other copy/ paste actions, & make the very last operation to copy the CFS 2/texture folder contents into the SCENEDB/WORLD/TEXTURE folder, that way you are certain they match.

If you still have troubles, I am afraid I'm out of ideas to help. :salute:

If I may add...

.. a small suggestion that may or may not resolve the issue.

I had the same problem last year with Jean "Bomber"'s Gilbratar and Western African coast sceneries. It got me real frustrated because all of Jean's/UncleTgt's/Maskrider's sceneries are of very high quality and I could not get what it should have been, but sparse green squares in some areas. :angryfir:

After painstakingly checking that every texture file was in place in both the addon scenery \texture and root CFS2 \texture folders, and still getting no positive results, I started tweaking CFS2 Scenery Library scenery layer hierarchy.
To make sure nothing could be overseen, I did not use CFS2 internal utility, but I made several copies of the root file scenery.cfg, renamed them as scenery_01.cfg, scenery_02.cfg and so on. I renamed my original one scenery_org.cfg, in order not to lose sight of what I had installed originally. Besides, on my PC, changing a scenery layer inside CFS2 with the sim running always produced instability and I had to exit and restart CFS2 anyway.

I then started editing each of them by moving up and down Jean's scenery layers, saving them each time with name (thus keeping a copy of each edited file) as scenery.cfg and trying CFS2 right away. Each of CFS2 *.cfg file is a simple text file (as any other *.cfg in Windows) and it's very easy to edit them quickly with Notepad, fast and furious to start, edit and save. One must only remember that the text file reading order (scenery.cfg) is reversed than what we see in CFS2 Scenery Library.

Sure enough, when I hit the correct hierarchy placement of Jean's splendid North/North-Western African coastlines and sceneries, everything looked right and great!

Nik112 if anthing else fails, try it. Remember that in CFS2 mesh files must be placed in the lowest layer sequence (first layers in scenery.cfg top-down, right after CFS2 terrain), followed immediately by water masks and then addon coastlines/rivers/roads. All of Rhumbaflappy's/Jean Bomber's/UncleTgt's/Maskrider's PTO and Sander de Cocq's ETO addon scenery packs include instructions explaining very well all of the above concepts: make sure to follow them literally.

Cheers!
KH
