Scenery Problems/New Install

I just re-installed FS9 after having to remove it a few months ago.
Here's the problem, new install, patched, on going to the airport all my ground textures are just colors with no detail. Once in a while I will get one tile that looks as it should. Other problems are water textures beyond the shoreline and see through mountains.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Did you have similar issues before? Seems like processor overload which happens reliably near detailed areas like airports on slower machines, but this also seems to go beyond that. Over those months has your computer changed? New programs, graphics card, bugs, etc? Did the install go smoothly or were there hang ups? They can indicate incomplete installs.

Have not changed anything with the computer, it's so old that there is not that much hardware for it now. Graphic card has is as up to date as possible, no updates for it since 05. Install went well, hopefully I can get it sorted out. Never had this happen before. I did flush the registry of anything relating to FS9, just have a lot of trouble shooting ahead.

Good luck with the fixing. And you might consider a previous driver set for the graphics. Mine work best with the ones on the disk that came with the driver.

Hi SH,
Annoying these problems, aren't they!!

All you did was inocently re-install the sim and it treats you like that..:<

As Aero says I think it sounds like a graphics card/driver problem, and from what you're saying Aero's suggestion of a bog-standard driver to start with, would be the way to go (clear out the old(new?!) one first).

Did you install the 9.1 upgrade before?, as you could try a fresh install just with the original 9.0.

Good luck and let us know.

Cheers Shessi

Thanks for the replies, I now think it may be a driver or graphics card setting as I installed FSX on Monday and it appeared to have the same glitch. I won't know until this weekend when I have the time to go through everything, been fighting a bad gut virus. If you hear several pounds of plastique go off you know that I "solved" the problem and went and bought a new rig.
