SOH-CM-2024
It all started with a constant notice about not being able to sync my files , when i started MSFS.
So yesterday i started to fidlle around in MS store. This is where I received a bunch of updates. One of them (probably the culprit) was "gaming services".
Now every time when i try to start-up FS , I have to go through all the initial install options like accessibility settings , data settings, enz.
These aren't saved because the next time i start the program , I have to do it all again. Also all my user settings like control, logs are all gone.
So i went digging to find out what others have to say about this and found this thread from 2021 wich seems very simular to my problem.
I opened a ticket with Zendesk but i guess i am grounded in the meantime. :(
I guess the lesson in this story is : don't update gaming services.

Gaming Services contains your MSFS log in details and a load of other important stuff.
It sounds like the update has corrupted your Gaming Services data. This is easy to repair and takes just a few seconds:
Open your XBox App, it should be on your taskbar.
Click on your user name at the top left of the window.
Click on Support in the drop-down menu.
Click the Gaming Services Repair Tool button.
Click the green Start repairing button.
Once the repair is complete, close the window and re-launch MSFS.

Thanks Tiger ,

This is the answer zendesk came up with .
Guess it is the same as yours.
I will try this later today after work

Hi Danny

Thanks for contacting Microsoft Flight Simulator support today.

Now it is a fact that the app was updated the same day this problem began. Could it be the same culprit again?
That is indeed the most likely culprit.

Reinstalling Gaming Services* should resolve the issue.

*Gaming services encompass online features that facilitate PC gaming, including Cloud Saves, Multiplayer, Account & Licence authentication, and Online purchases. If you uninstall Gaming Services or if Gaming Services becomes corrupted or outdated, you will not be able to play games online, play or install Xbox game pass games, and you may have problems installing games from the Microsoft Store.

1. Reset the Microsoft Store app

  • On your keyboard, press the “Win Logo” + “R” keys
  • Type WSReset.exe and press “Enter.
  • A black window will pop up
  • Wait until the pop-up disappears and the Store comes up
  • Reboot your computer

2. Repair Gaming Services
You can use this tool from the Xbox app or try the downloadable version. For more information on how to run this tool, visit:

To run the Gaming Services Repair Tool on your PC, please make sure you have the 2311.1001.7.0 version or newer Xbox app on PC installed.

If you're still having trouble installing or launching Microsoft Flight Simulator after resetting the store and using the Repair Gaming Services tool, remove and reinstall Gaming Services manually.
  1. Press the Start button on the taskbar, type 'powershell', right-click on Windows PowerShell, and then select Run as administrator.
  2. In Windows PowerShell, type the following command and press Enter:
    get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
  3. In the same window, type the following command and press Enter:
    start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
  4. Install the app on that page and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.
  5. Restart your device.

Kind regards,
Microsoft Flight Simulator Support Team
