Sea Hurricanes

SOH-CM-2023
Well I reinstalled FS9 and most of the effects , the first planes I downloaded were two of my favorites , Sandersons Sea Hurricanes. Everything work good now except I have the same old problem with the Sea Hurris ,and that is getting the drop tanks to load. I followed the instructions about you can only get them to show if you refuel them on the ground . I've done this and they still won't show. Once in a while (rarely) they show up but there is no rime or reason to it.
I know the main problem is the drop tank selector is always in the off part.It won't move no matter how much I try clicking on it. When they do show , if you pan down to the selector it's in the on position.
Does anyone have a fix for this?I tried downloading from a different site in case I got a bad download but it's the same.
I've got everything set to full realisum with aircraft crashes enabled and also tried to set the repeat slider all the way to the right and left but makes no difference.
Also after the Hurri sets for a bit it crashes to the flight deck.
I've already tried different setting such as easy and disableing crashes but nothing works.when you first start the flight you can hear the drop tanks hitting the deck. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi Hurricane,
Have you tried the 'Shift' + 'W' command? (default water rudder).
The x-tanks show & disappear without even having to alter the fuel load.
I don't think it's possible via a cockpit switch. You either have'm or you don't.
If anybody knows differently, please let us know...!
You can hear the drop tanks hitting the deck on landing?
I don't seem to have that problem. The onle noise is when the tailhook hits the wire.
Good luck with your fs9 rebuild!

no dice

Nope shift +W doesn't do a thing. You can hear the drop tanks hitting the deck and briefly see them when you first go into the flight and the Hurri is on the deck.

gave it another try

I tried again and this time as long as you hold shift+w the tanks come up through the flight deck and quiver there but as soon as you let go of shift + w they drop back into the deck. From inside the cockpit you can see the drop tank jettison lever knid of shake to the forward position then it too drops back when you let go of shift + w ,only one time did the tanks attach themselves and stay put.

tried another download

I unistalled the Sea hurricanes and reinstalled them from an older CD I have which as I recall I got the drop tanks to work. But still the same thing When I hit shift +w the tanks come up out of the flight deck quivering and look like they want to attach them selves but as soon as you let go of shift +w they drop right back and dissapear under the flight deck. Also the plane still crashes to the deck after maybe 3/4 minutes.
You better have all your cockpit checks done and be ready to fly!
Does anyone know of any changes I could make to the aircraft config file that might fix all this? Is Mr Sanderson still around? If so maybe I could ask him if I knew his email. I know I emailed him years ago because on the very first time I installed the Hurri's I somehow lost the British Carrier file and he was kind enough to send it too me.
Lastly Stuart ,do you remember where you got your download from?Maybe I could try that one.

Hi H3,
Just a thought, check to make sure you are not using something else aswell as shift-w as the water-rudder activation key press assignment.
It's possible the reason for the drop tanks already dropped is because another knob/button/lever/bell/whistle etc etc assignment has caused them to drop and is permenantly 'dropping' them, and the shift-w is countering that until you let that button combo go.

Re-the falling ac, sounds like scrape and/or the contact points are out.

Cheers Shessi

thanks Shessi

What you said makes sense ,now all I gotta do it hunt down the button /assignment that might be the cause. As far as the aircraft crashing ,whats weird is that they don't crash right away and (i just checked) they don't crash if on land ,only on the carriers. The tanks still don't load on land but the Hurri doesn't crash after 3/4 min like it does on the carrier ,so it's somthing about the carrier that causes them to crash ,which I would think rules out contact points Something else thats strange is that when you select a flight for the Hurri's it seems to load once very quickly without textures but you can see the droptanks installed, then a very few seconds later the screen goes black ,you hear the sound of the drop tanks hitting the deck ,then it loads normally with out droptanks.
I'am getting the feeling this is one I might just have to live with.

Lastly Stuart ,do you remember where you got your download from?Maybe I could try that one.

Thanks for trying

I went to your link ,which took me too Surclaro ,but couldn't find their freeware, so I looked at the bottom of your email and there was a link there which took me right to the download. I uninstalled my other Seahurri install and downloaded the one you gave me. But unfortunatly ,same problem. The downlad took a little longer so I was hopeful that might be the one but no dice. All the same problems ,no drop tanks and crashing through the flight deck.
I also checked for any assignments that might cause a conflect ,like I had the drop tank release assigned to my CH Throttle Quad ,and deleted all them and looked through all the assignments that might cause a conflect like Shessi said ,but could find nothing.
So it must be something with my computer and this program, all other downloads seem to work ok. Thanks so much for trying.

Got it figured out(I think)

You can read about my latests mishap in the " more problems thread" but I think ,thanks to stuarts post I got it figured out how to hang the Da..... drop tanks! If you hit shift +w like he said ,then when the tanks get close to the wing very quickly relise then hit shift + w again then release they attach. Seemed to work every time.
This sim is gonna kill me yet. Thanks to all ,nite I'am beat.

I have had that problem with Surclaro recently too, but this morning I have tried and it seems to be working as normal, including the link posted above.

now I'f I can keep them from crashing

Now that so far, I figured out how to load drop tanks ,if I can keep the planes from crashing to the flight deck after sitting there for a few minutes I'am good. I have Mr Sandersons email but don't know if he's still with us.Hate to write and find he doesn't want bothered or worse, but I guess I'll give it a shot.

just to let you know

I emailed Mr Sanderson about the drop tank(which I have pretty much fixed with the careful use of shift +w) and the crashing to the carrier deck after a few minutes, but it's been a couple of days and no reply yet so maybe he's no longer with us or has just retired.

FYI

I emailed Mr Sanderson about the drop tanks ( which I pretty much fixed with careful use of Shift + W)and the crashing to carrier deck after a few minutes but it's been a couple od days and haven't heard back so I don't know what he's situation might be.
