• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Seabee VC "Optionals"

Releasing source files is a no-no, I get cold sweats just thinking about the support queries I could get as a result of someone "going crazy" with one of our models.

Well, that's where the disclaimer "no support unless downloaded from site XYZ" in the readme comes into the game.

However, there is some good news, we have an all new Dash-8-Q400 in the works with glass cockpit. It will be a converted FS9, as will all our models. In our opinion the amount of work and hassle involved in re-compiling into a "true" FSX model is not worth the very small, and mostly unproven, gains.

a) Looking forward to the Q400!

b) No one says you should convert ist yourself. Make the sources avaiable, let anyone eager enough convert it for FSX and deny any support for models not originally released by you. Done.

I can understand why payware developers need to have a "true FSX" label on their boxes but, not having paying customers, we have the luxury of freedom of choice. Our FSX C130J has had over 14,000 downloads and as long as simmers appreciate them, and as long as we old guys are able to use a mouse and keyboard we'll keep 'em coming.

Totally understandable, Bob. As a freeware development group you can do whatever the heck you want.

Well, I still think there should be generally more source files avaiable for MSFS. You could fix small annoyances, you could convert VC-less models for FSX and just do the VC from scratch or alias another one and add-ons would basically live forever since they could be easily made native to almost whatever instance of MSFS/X-Plane there is. The term "portover" could practically be eliminated.
