Lots of ships now, particularly in busy chokepoints like Gibraltar. I left GAIST installed (AI Offline mode), since in that mode, it doesn't add many
ships, and no obvious conflicts (although I haven't flown over a lot of major shipping routes yet). However, GAIST does add the occasional ferry (like
BC and Washington state ferries in the Pacific Northwest), that SFS doesn't add.

Anyway, I'm happy with the purchase so far, it adds what it said it would.
