Searching for a Wankle Rotary Engine soundpack

Lionheart

SOH-CM-2014
Hey guys,

I am looking around for specific sounds based on a Rotary Engine, such as the Wankle engine would have. (Not like an Oborrussel, however it is spelled :b ).

I had thought there was a blimp sound pack similar to one, but didnt find it.

I have assembled my own, but I am not happy with them.

Hello,
you should find some Wankel sounds on Youtube, if not for a plane ..

However the Wankel engine is not a rotary ? Or is there a version where the housing turns around the inner fixed triangles ? :kilroy:

edit just saw you need a complete soundpack, sorry ..

Greetings,

This wankel-powered Mazda Furai Concept sounds unlike any other car I've ever heard before, but the rpm's are probably too high to be of any use for you:

And how about this four rotor Wankel inside the Le Mans winning Mazda 787B? Describtion says it's limited to only 7000 rpm; with a full race set-up it will do 9000 rpm. :d

The RX-8 road model doesn't nearly sound as good though:

Thanks Ferry!

I had found most of mine on YouTube but was having some issues mating the high speeds with the low speeds. One was from a speed boat and I couldnt seem to edit out the 'wooosh' noise from the water and air in the background. I did find some brilliant idle sounds though, and startups. Was drueling over those. Just not any good faster sounds.

I need a sound pack though that doesnt sound like a F1 car though, lol..

Harder then I thought it would be. Its a wierd little sound on the stock 2 and 3 rotor engines. They make a whine 'whirr' sound, but at idle, they sound like a two-stroke engine.

I'll just keep on plugging away on this...

Thanks again.

(That Mazda GTP car is BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Could you possibly be able to work something out from the Osprey2R over at FlightSim? Turbo Wankel engine. Just a thought.

Three guesses as to what Wankel rotary-powered FS project you are working on (in this order):

1. Moller Skycar M400
2. Diamond DA20
3. Lockheed Q-Star/QT-2

Oh wait, #3 is more up Tim Conrad's alley; definitely in the peculiar category.

Bill,
try the ROTAX sound used in the PAD Flight Design CT-SW.
It comes very close to a Wankel Aero engine conversion and I'm sure you could come to an 'arrangement' with Premier if you find it satisfactory.
:kilroy:

And a PS:That helmet on the guy testing the 787B looks like it came out of the local toy store! Bad!

I think Ferry is very close to what it is... :d

Thanks guys for those 2 possibilities. I'll check them out now.
