Searching for AI models

I need some Dee Waldron AI models and one Aardvark model. Dee's site is gone as is Henry T's. I have scoured FlightSim and AvSim using everything except the file names (which I don't know) and managed to find a few, but am still missing the following base files:

Dee Waldron
DC-8-21
DC-8-32
DC-8-33
DC-8-50
DC-8-51
DC-8-62

Aardvark
DC-8-21

If anyone can provide file names, that usually works where other search methods fail.
Or, if you know of an alternate site for me to search.
As a last resort, if you HAVE the file(s), please consider sending it to me via a PM.

Thanks!

STILL LOOKING....

Hey, Ed...thanks for taking the time to reply. The CalClassics retro AI have only the DC-8-52 (which I already have) and a non-descript "DC-8".

So, I'm still looking.

I thought Dee's stuff pitched up on a "community" website? I've downloaded some of these aircraft, and Henry T's, within the past few weeks; when I get home this evening I'll check the links and post them if nobody else has dealt with it by then.

H52,
I don't believe AI Aardvark ever did a DC-8-21 model, or any DC-8 come to that. They did do some DC-9s but not a DC-9-20.

For the Dee Waldron models, all I can suggest is that you look at the various fleet packs like World of AI. I know some of them contain some DC-8 models, and if you're prepared to check enough of them you may find most of the models you're looking for. The only other alternative is to hunt through the larger repaint packs (as in filesize), as some repainters aren't as scrupulous as others in uploading "texture only" files,

All the DC-8 10s, 20s, and 30s looked identical so there's no reason to have separate versions of each one. Same for the DC-8 50 series. I don't have the 60's or 70's.

Wow, Henry's site is gone!! Great loss to the FS World.

Over the years I have downloaded all of Henry's and Dee's models. I can send them to you, Tom, if you want them.

I also have AI Aardvark's DC-8-71/73 models. These were the only AIA DC-8 models, I think. Look for aiaDC8_7.zip at Flightsim.com.

Henry just disappeared from the scene suddenly a couple years ago. Does anybody know what ever happened to him? We were all waiting for his Piper Singles Payware set to go with his Cessna Singles set. Some of the best AI models out there.

Thanks for the comments, fellas. Tom's input re the similarity of the various models means the only one I'm missing is the -62, and a kind member has offered to send that one to me. :jump:
Re the -21 by AIA, I'm wondering if that is not simply a typo, so I'll try the skin on Dee's -21 and see if it "takes".

Beg pardon but this thread caught my interest. After re-installing FS9 I am now intent on populating some areas with AI. I have not tried this before but once plans have been compiled do I need to search out and DL all the AI aircraft by by hand? The details are rather lacking as to what is exactly needed regarding what aircraft are listed it the text. Is it more or less get all I can and see what shows up? Thanks for helping an AI newbie.

Hello, Aeromed. The EASIEST way to populate FS9 with AI is to install packages from World of AI (civil) or MAIW (military). In either, all the grunt work has been done for you and the install is simpler than installing an add-on a/c.

However, if you have a particular flight plan that you wish to implement, then yes, you need to rummage about and collect all the aircraft (models & skins/liveries) mentioned in the Flight Plan. If the F.P. calls out an airport not included in FS9, then that also needs to be collected [NOTE:the airports are usually not a problem].

Once you have all the above, you list them in a TXT file; thus you'll have 3 TXT files: Flight Plan; Aircraft; Airports. You then compile all three using Traffic Tools.

The above is an overview and may not be 100% precise, as I have not done one in over a year.

Thanks Hawkeye. One little hint, what text needs to match up between the ai aircraft listed and the aircraft CFG so it gets used? I foolishly tried to get a major hub to work. I will instead go for maybe a Solomons hopper or something first.:icon_lol:

Well it was a good thought but for about a year now my computer has not had Net Frameworks 1-3.5. MS threw in the towel saying I would need to reinstall the OS to fix the problem. 4.0 works fine but WoAI needs 2.0.

In the Aircraft.txt, the description must be IDENTICAL to the "title" entry in the CFG. For example, ac#3,N738PA,DC-8-21 Pan American 1962.

The safest way is to copy and paste directly from the CFG.

aeromed202,
in theory, ALL you need is .NET Framework v4, according to M$ when they released it. Their point is that they have made it backward compatible with all the earlier versions, so that any program like WoAI which needs v2 should work OK with v4 - but they issued a caveat with that release to say that compatibility CAN be broken.

Are you saying tha WoAI doesn't work with v4, or merely quoting their requirements ? If you haven't tried it yet, just give it a whirl and see ...

If you do have problems, it would be best to drop WoAI a message to say so,
hope that helps,
Ro
