SectionF8 Sabre texture question

Members +
I'm doing some skins for the Sabre, is there a texture for the landing gear? As it is right now they are just a bit too shiny and clean.

TIA!

Hi, jocko!

I've already released some Sabre paints (but never worried about the gear struts...), I'll see what I can find out!

Cheers,
Markus.

Now here's the answer:

Some of the SF8 Sabre textures are 'common' textures, used for any Sabre version (VC textures as well). They reside in the FS main texture folder.
The gear strut texture file is f86jv_gear2.bmp (DXT3 format).
But be aware:
If you alter these textures, the changed ones will appear on any of your Sabres!

Cheers,
Markus.

Yeah, this is what I was looking for. I'm doing some RCAF skins for a group project and finding all these internal textures will help a lot! :ernae:

To give you an idea:

Original gear textures (ignore the Mk.5 skin on a Mk.2 airframe).. ;-)

New gear textures (WIP)

Still have to tweak the shadowing on the wheels a bit. My Dad flew Sabres, he has a throttle and stick grip, the stick grip is the standard B-8 but the throttle on the RCAF Sabres was a beige-grey colour, not black and white like the one in the sim. I've repainted it to look closer to the one my Dad has, one of the buttons was grey too, I'll have to phone him as I can't remember which one it was (I think it was the CAGE button).
