It's official: Sergio Perez will race for Red Bull in F1 2021, replacing Alex Albon.
Happy for Perez but annoyed by the typical RBR treatment of Albon.
:dizzy:

I'm sorry for Alex, but understand the decision. Red Bull need two drivers that can fight with Mercedes, and Alex was still too slow in qualifying and in the race.
Only two podiums in 26 races against 15 podiums and three wins for your team mate just isn't good enough.

It's the most logical choice. Since the departure of Daniel Ricciardo I think RB has been struggling to find a driver next to Max Verstappen. I'm convinced they have found a very competitive rider with Sergio Perez. RB has a history with tension amongst the drivers and team. But I think this is also quite common inside the other F1 teams. I don't think the way Sergio Perez was treated by Racing Point really deserves the price for best employer of the year as well.

The arrival of Perez will also show whether Verstappen is really as good as it is claimed he is.

There are only 20 seats, so the competition is fierce. I always remember what Alain Prost said in his farewell interview, when he was asked whether he had friends in F1 who he would miss. "When you compete at this level, you don't have any friends", was his answer in a dead serious way.

Cheers,
Huub

In the "old" days, you had friendships like Jackie Stewart, Jochen Rindt. Jimmy Clark, Today you have "Insert unpostable language here" Narcissists plaguing F1.

I remember the "Good old days", not only of car racing, but baseball and football.
In my opinion, things are not the same anymore because the owners no longer consider them to be a sport, but a business.
Coaches are told to win the world series or super bowl within a few years of taking over a team, or "Your fired, I'll get someone else who will get me that trophy I need in my den".
It's ever true in politics now, Republicans and democrats could argue policies and disagree all day, then get together and have a beer. Now the other side is the enemy.

Albon received a much better chance than Gasly.
That being said, fans are talking about the "toxic" Red Bull environment going back to Webber - and that "toxic" environment is exactly why Ricciardo left.
