I am going to backup the database today, Transfer it off the server and then reboot the server. The backup takes about 2 minutes and most user will not notice it. The reboot will take us off line for 10 or 20 minutes? I am not sure this will be the first reboot of the server since we migrated to it.

After those items I will work on updating the forum software. You will know when that is happening based on the forum software message.

We are just doing a minor update to the current version. There is a newer major version of the software but I am not ready to go to it yet.
 
And I forgot a few steps. I have to update the server OS there is an update to the SQL database engine that will require I shut off the forum software first.

I will post as we go along.

Right now I am backing up the files again. The donation software needs an upgrade and I have to do that from the command line. That will probably go well but I hate to do that kind of command and not have a backup from just before I did it.

because of my internet speed backing up the server takes 8 to 10 hours. I only copy off the files that have changed or are new. Still takes a long time.
