Hi Peeps (no pun intended)

Easter Sunday is just around the corner- similar to what we did for the Thanksgiving & Christmas Dinner threads, lets share our Easter menu or traditions.

Gosh! I'm so hungry for ham....Yum!

Hubby and I are not going anywhere for Easter this year, so it will be just the two of us. Here's our menu:

Glazed ham (using my grandma's glaze recipe)
Scalloped potatoes
Candied Yams
7-layer salad

For dessert: We ordered a cake from our favorite bakery.

This year, we have also decided to exchange Easter baskets- LOL! I know, we normally do that for kids, but, we thought it would be fun to surprise each other with goodies.

Hannah and I are going to an early Sunrise Service.

After that, kids will go egg hunting.

For Dinner, we were invited to have dinner to my cousin's house.

I planned yo bring Chinese Noodles with vegetables and chicken on it.

...and I will bring Mandarin Oranges....
 
i wanted to have ham, because i can do a real nice one. but the kids are too lazy to chew, and they refuse to eat leftovers. the last ham i served i ended up eating over the next week, ham sammiches every single day to avoid wasting it. so, this time we are having pork tenderloin and rice, and some salad. nothing special, just simple food.

Hey! You could buy yourself a nice little ham, whip up some mashed potatoes and have a decent Easter meal?! Come on! Go for it!

Glad I got you hooked on the Almond milk- I ran out of it- I have to go grocery shopping today so I'll buy 2 cartons :)

Deb and I will make a skillet caserole of sorts....nice cubes of Virginia Smoked Ham, sizzled in the skillet. Then add in well drained and rinsed lima beans, onion, black pepper, some sea salt. Serve that beside some scalloped taters and cheesy Texas Toast. A simple Easter Dinner for two.

I think the last "large" meal I got talked into was ham then too ... I was thinkin maybe a nice steak ... or turkey from the grill. (THEN, I'll need the fiber ... )

Since I'm not spending Easter at my parents' (they're on holidays and I didn't want to tag along), my holiday dinners are going to be rather simplistic, but quite effective.

- Pizza and beer.
- Spaghetti, ham cubes and spinach and beer.
- Beer.

I have to go shopping tommorrow and see...

No ham this year..... More than likely baked skinless chicken, fresh veggies , maybe grilled, and whole grain noodles..... No bread nor desert ...

My oldest works all day....HUH???? Brat...




Ok..I have it now.... Roasted Pork Tenderloin..Sweet Potatoes..grilled Veggies-Deviled Eggs..Sweet Tea...Fruit bowl

And for me the most important item is just having my family all home, even if one finds it more important to work all day and night (sighs)
 
Ham was traditional while growing up and into my 40s, but over the last 13 years old traditions have gone by the wayside and new ones have developed. Easter dinner: Mexican food with friends at El Pinto. :greenf::redfire:

On My income?? ::roflmao:; i'm having nuked beef and cheddar hot dog with saurkraut and hore=seradish mustard.. No bread though.. i have celiacs.. ..
 
Roasted Pig on a spit outside, mashed potatoes, Imported WI yams and cheeses, and of course several varieties of Beer from around WI that I had shipped up here.
 
It will be a mish-mash here C9G, as we will have lots of kids for an Easter egg hunt, so they'll get chicken tenders and pizza (and veggies, if they eat them, I never did). I'll be roasting a big beef roast, as one of our relatives is Muslim and doesn't eat pig. I know Easter is not his holiday, but Ali will celebrate anyone's holiday as long as food is involved! LOL. Usual southern veggies, green beans, mashed taters, rice for Ali and I, salads for those that eat that garbage. Cornbread, biscuits, and yeast bread, bread is never in short order at a southern meal.

For desert there will be chocolate and brown sugar pie (my favorite), devil's food cake, and ice cream. Candy galore for the little (and big) kids. Oh and Ali's aunt, who lives in Danville, makes just the best homemade oatmeal cream cookies you have ever laid lips into.

Nice weather for us is called for too, hope everyone else's Easter Sunday is just as good.

We are doing much the same on the pig. Down here in Cajun country it is called a Cochon de lait (Milk Pig). A young pig is split open and slowly roasted for hours and hours. I can't tell you the fixings because that will be pot luck. My wife is bring Asian Coleslaw.

I do know there will be plenty and a lot left over.
