She is still working at it

UPDATE: Kelley Earnhardt Elledge, the president of JR Motorsports that is co-owned by Sprint Cup star Dale Earnhardt Jr., said on Monday she is exploring options that could put Danica Patrick in a limited number of Nationwide Series races next year. "There is a natural fit at JRM with Dale Jr. and Danica both serving as spokespersons for GoDaddy.com," Elledge said. "As a female managing one of the top Nationwide Series teams in the sport, I would be excited to have Danica within the JR Motorsports fold if she decides to enter the world of NASCAR." Elledge said Patrick would split time with Earnhardt and several other drivers in the #5. Kelly Bires recently was signed to replace Brad Keselowski in the #88 car next season. "Kelly bires will run 88 full time," Elledge said in a text. "So she will be part time in 2nd car."(ESPN.com)(10-6-2009)
UPDATE 2: Add Michael Waltrip Racing to the list of NASCAR suitors for IndyCar Series star Danica Patrick for 2010. Team owner Michael Waltrip said on Tuesday he's met with Patrick and given her a tour of the team facility. He is willing to put her in limited number of races in the Nationwide and Truck Series, "whatever she wants,'' he said. "We've certainly talked to her and are interested in what she's going to do,'' Waltrip said. "We have sort of done that without a whole lot of people knowing. She knows we're interested when she knows what she's going to do." Waltrip doesn't believe the rivalry between Japanese car manufacturers will be a stumbling block. Patrick drives a Honda in the IndyCar Series; Waltrip's team fields Toyotas."There's not a Honda over here [in NASCAR], so she's going to drive something besides that,'' he said.(ESPN.com)(10-6-2009)

She wants mega bucks to jump to NASCAR, and she hasn't even proven herself behind the wheel yet!

If I were her I would be looking too. Who knows if Indy Car will exist in three years when her contract is up. A person needs a backup plan.

These F1 drivers are doing the same thing.

UPDATE: Michael Waltrip Racing will test Jarno Trulli and Mika Salo at International Speedway in Lakeland, Fl., the week prior to the NASCAR season finale at Homestead Miami Speedway. Trulli, 35, currently drives for Toyota in Formula One. He finished second last week in the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka and is currently eighth in the World Championship. Trulli's sole F1 win came at the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix in 2004 while driving for Renault. After Trulli completes the F1 season on November 1 at Abu Dhabi, he will be fitted for his seat at MWR then join the organization to observe for the final three races. Trulli dropped in at Michigan Speedway last June to watch the Sprint Cup race. With the current uncertainty surrounding Toyota's future in F1, it appears that Trulli is considering stock cars as a viable option. Salo, 42, competed in F1 from 1994 to 2002 and posted two podium finishes. In 2007, Salo won the GT2 class of the American Le Mans Series. He currently competes for a team that MWR co-owner Rob Kauffman has an interest in Europe.(FoxSports)(10-7-2009)

I agree she has a right to check it out, and I don't have anything against her trying. But, to demand big bucks before she can prove herself on these cars, I think it isn't right. Just like rookies coming into the NFL, demanding big signing bonus' before they even put on a uniform, doesn't make sense to me either!

I like Danica, but she has to show me she can run with these guys, its a different ball game altogether.

When a driver or a ball player demands big money, the owner has the right to say get lost! Their under no obligation to hire anyone.

Where has it been printed that she's demanding big bucks to drive in NASCAR :ques:

Your right, I haven't seen any amounts printed. I would like to know the ballpark dollars for a top notch Indy driver as opposed to a top notch Nascar driver. I suppose it's substantial.

This update is more believable.

UPDATE: Forget Danica Patrick making $1 million a race if and when she begins driving in NASCAR's Nationwide Series in 2010. She likely won't make $100,000. The IndyCar Series darling in all likelihood will make around $50,000 a race. Sources close to the situation confirmed to ESPN.com that the rumored/reported $8 million Patrick would make for running about eight Nationwide events was completely false.(ESPN Insider)(10-9-2009)

Even NASCAR is having money problems these days. Team owners are scaling back operations, dropping teams, and some drivers not taking a paycheck just so they can stay in a car and hopefully be given a contract to drive next year. Danica Patrick has enjoyed a great career in IndyCar racing, but Nationwide and Sprint Cup cars are totally different beasts to drive. I seriously doubt if any team owners can afford to spend millions of dollars on a driver that is unproved in the NASCAR series cars. If she comes over to NASCAR she will start in the Nationwide Series and it won't be for dump truck loads of money because there isn't that kind of money in the Nationwide Series these days.

Danica and JR Motorsports/MWR? ESPN.com has confirmed that IndyCar Series driver Danica Patrick is talking with JR Motorsports and Michael Waltrip Racing about running a limited schedule of about eight Nationwide Series races -- plus a few Truck and maybe ARCA events -- in 2010. Kevin Harvick Inc. could be a player. But sources say those aren't the only options as Patrick begins preparing for a potential NASCAR career after her IndyCar career is over.(see more at ESPN Insiders)(10-21-2009)
