• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

I didn't get this but one of my friends here did get it in a PM. Looks like forum spam to me. Word of caution, nobody open the link if you get it!

Got the same message and reported it to the admins. Seems we have a spammer in our midst!

Not aware of the posibility of a false message, I did open the link, the link looks like a spamdetecter, but it also wanted to download a file on the computer (witch I prevented). I checked with my spyware software of the computer a few files witch the link said was spam, but it wasn't.

I must say that this t*rd had a lot of nerve impersonating a member of staff here. Especially since this is such a close-knit community.

As I understand it, he was "sent on his way"! LOL!!!

I got the same message. I was worried until i saw he had no posts.....obviously not an admin.

I reply'd to PM letting him know where he could put his spam message.



Another note: when i tried to report it, could not find the report to admin button....where is it located?

I have never posted on the site and I am really disappointed that it has been used in this way to spread malicious material. I doubt I will be visiting again.
 
The "perps" have been bannished, but as many of you know, it's a never ending battle. Ickie has been on top of the castle walls shooting arrows and dumping boiling oil on them. Sometimes a couple get across the moat before they are dispatched...
 
these are bot scripts, we have been under attack for years and this is a new kind, so i made it so regular members can only send 1 PM at a time and no more for 1800 seconds, and only have 10 Pm's saved so they cannot reply to all of them. I also killed emails for members too.

I hated to do this but maybe everyone needs to be a Charter Member to have PM privileges and emails.
A friend of mine shut off PM and emails on his forums to stop these bot scripts.

I have a security program but I turned it off because it kills by country IP address and a few good members were banned by this program and we cannot have this can we.
