Simulator Aircraft Swap

Hello all,

I had played CFS1 years ago and I was able to download and fly in that sim, aircraft from FS98 and FS2000. However with CFS3 I noticed some conversions from FS2002 and others to fly in CFS3. Are there any other aircraft you can incorporate into CFS3 without much issue? For example if you find a MiG-17 from FS2002 will it work in CFS3? Which conversion procedure can you use and by george is it legal to do at all?

No. CFS2 and FS2002 use the .MDL format while CFS3 uses .M3D and they're not compatible. Conversions to CFS3 are done by exporting the source file to CFS3 or converting an existing .mdl to a form Gmax can read, reworking this and exporting to CFS3.

Either way it's a lot of work - ask Clive or Steve!
