Siptanks go boom!

Anyone here have the problem with the planes blowing up when dropping AvHistory Siptanks?

This is occuring with both my spitfire 14s 90G tanks and my meteor's 180G tanks.

As soon as I give the attack command, a few of my wingmen explode when they drop their tanks. I've been able to make my plane explode this way also. This never happens with the stock drop tanks, even on those planes.

YEA M8...I DO IT ALL THE TIME...mostly on FW 190s though...and they are the auxillary fuel tanks...

you explode if you run ito em...so keep a steady hand whilst releasing em..

I love getting lined up line abreast and attack" Pressing A"...go to outside view and see ya wingmen drop em as well..bloody amazing....

You need to be wings level with the nose slightly up, say about 5 degrees. Any other attitude and you're in trouble. For info, they were rarely actually dropped, for just that reason. The stock tanks, on the Spit at least, are based more on some geek's imagination than any form of reality.

I have found this occurs with some types of aircraft and on most of these you can avoid this by reducing your speed well below cruising.

very little performance hit w/ the wonderful spit 'slipper' tanks so I jes leave 'em on (unless I'm in real trouble like AI havin' me vastly out numbered 1 to 1):help:

They look great, I love them but...

I'm losing some of my wingmen before the fight even starts! Hmmm.

I guess there's no way to fix the AI so they don't run into the tanks?

Do a little dip maneuver and let them go under g. If you watch them carefully you will see they are animated to spring up off their moorings and tumble backward in an entertaining parabolic arc, through and away from the wing. Not cool! I little g force encourages them to drop down. make sure everyone is in a slight pull up maneuver before giving the command.
