Site member in need of a spot of prayer

OBIO

Retired SOH Admin
NCGent, the alter ego of Chris Herring, a forum member and creator of some pretty nice aircraft, is in need of some prayer. Chris, as many of you may already know, is living with diabetes and some pretty harsh afflictions due to that disease (diabetic stroke, failing eye sight, heart problems). And being disabled, his finances are less than ideal (whose aren't)...which is why he began offering up his newer aircraft as payware/donation ware on his own site. He had to close that site, but Ron from Razbam.org graciously offered to host Chris's TopFlight Simulation aircraft on the Razbam site (thank you Ron for being a model of humanity and brotherhood).

I have been in contact with Chris, and he now faces even more medical problems. He has been having some back problems for a while, and they have gotten worse...to the point that he has lost a good bit of feeling and function in his left arm. A trip to the doctor's office revealed that Chris has three ruptured discs in his spine, with one of them being very very serious...to the point that it is collapsing onto his spinal cord...thus pinching the nerve to his left arm. He goes under the knife Monday with the hope of this being repaired so that he can life more pain free and regain full use of his left arm.

Currently, Chris is working on two new aircraft...one has been on hold for a while due to his health problems and college courses he is taking, the other is one he just recently started. Ansaldo A-1 Balilla and I'll keep the new one tipity topity secret until Chris is able to get back onto the forum and announce it himself..but it is a plane that has not been done for any sim for quite a number of years and has not been done for FS2004 (will be operational in FSX, but not a true FSX built plane). Chris sent me a copy of the Ansaldo A-1 for testing....and let me tell you, it is looking good. Still needs work here and there (gauges, sound pack, some model tweaks) but the modeling is done enough that I am working on a collection of paints to be released with the plane.

Anyhow, this weekend send Chris up to One above and ask that some healing be poured onto him.

And if any of you have not checked out the TopFlight Simulation aircraft on Razbam.org, they are worth looking at. The prices are very very easy on the wallet....the most expensive being the Lockheed Air Express at $7....that's a lunch at a fast food burger joint.

I wondered what happened to Chris. I knew he was going to start going to school again. Sorry to hear about the physical issues...believe me I fully understand how things can go so wrong so quick. Chris has my prayers and well wishes.

Goodness.

Compressed vertabre can be some of the worst pain ever. My dad had 2, and my brother had one that was rebuilt with titanium and donated tissue. The next day after surgery he was up and walking around, happier then ever, at 6AM in the morning. He had lived in pure pain for years.

I pray Chris has a total healing and the pain never returns.

Thanks OBIO for the heads up.

My prayers and thoughts are with you hang in there.

Thanks for the prayer request post Tim, much appreciated. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I have never been so ready for an operation than I am for this one, hurry up Monday:mixedsmi:

Chris, you will be in my prayers as you face this challenge. I've been where you are going, and it will get better fast.

Hey folks

Thought I would give everyone a little update on my surgery and healing process.
Had the op Monday morning, the doc removed 3 herniated disks and used bone from my hip to fuse them together. I was warned about the pain I would have in my hip but did not expect what I have in it. My neck is very sore also from being cut open and things moved about but the pain I had in my left arm is completely gone. They had a breathing tube down my throat and that has my wind pipe very irritated and swollen making it hard to drink, eat and swallow. I guess it's just a waiting game now for everything to settle down and heal.
Thanks for the prayers and kind words folks, much appreciated.
Now if I can just go a year without having to be cut open somewhere I'll be very happy....lol

Good to see ya on the road to healing NCGent!! :applause:

Take it easy and get well soon!!

Chris,

Glad the surgery went well and that it did what it was intended to do. Will continue to pray for your recovery and life in general. Glad to hear that the pain in your arm is gone.

Tim
