Sky Unlimited P-51 Conversion Question

Typhoon Willy

Charter Member
Hi all,

Some time ago I downloaded the CFS2 conversion kit from here and have started to piece things together. Starting with the A-36, I noticed it comes with permanently attached drop tanks and was wondering how to eliminate those so as not to interfere with the bombs showing up?

Thanks,

TW

Willy

give this a shot, remove the .txt from the file and overwrite the original.
Other wise resort to model mod's and that way over my head..:ernae:

Hey wait a minute...did you say there is a cinversion kit layin around here some place? If not let me know I've got dp's cooked up already for those birds.

Cheers

G

Hi gdem,

Well, even if I remove the .txt from the file name, it will not work, would it be possible to send it to me as an e-mail attachment?

I don't remember who uploaded the converted files as there is no readme included, but there is a .dp file included.

Thanks for your help.

TW

Hey TW, If you still need a US_Pilot with the correct uniform, let me know. I found one that was used for the Warwick Carter conversion. It uses Jaxon's pilot textures.

A Solution?

TW, I couldnt get your e-mail to work so...down load this file from ChrisN CN_WoP_Fw190A-8R11_NJGr10 and then rename the alphaed out droptank bmp for the FW-190 to match the SU P-51 droptanks and that should do the trick.

cheers

Woo Hoo! It worked like a charm, gedm! Thanks kindly, sir!

Thanks also go out to dvslats for the pilot textures.

Kind regards,

TW

I am interested in SU P51 "dp" . Where can I get it ?

Awesome Willy, I actually fly my SU 51's quite a bit but they are frame heavy in numbers.

fani, apparently there is a conversion kit somewhere around here but if your UTL send me a pm... :mixedsmi:

I'm not surprised about the framerate issue, but I think this might be a good plane to have for those "lone gunman" missions or a fighter sweep with one wingman. Since I'm a ground pounder by trade, I could load up with a couple of 500lber's and roll in on a V-1 site or strafe an unsuspecting convoy, when I'm not in my Typhoon, of course. :jump:

By the way, is there an entry in the aircraft.cfg. file of the A-36 the controls the speed at which the speed brakes are deployed? Press the 'D' key and they're open, press it again and they're closed, it seems it should take several seconds to open and close.

Thanks,

TW

I dunno...that would be a question for one of the CFS2 journeymen like Tango or Bearcat etal.

How About An Apprentice

Open the airfile with aired Willy and give this line, shown in the picture, two seconds for the cycle time, the way it's shown. If you think it needs more or less, go back and change 'er. You really do not want to wait too long though...especially in a dive. BTW, bearcat had shown this to me a couple of years back. :wavey:

Hi dvslats,

Ummmmm, ok, I opened the air file, found the entry in question but was not able to change the values. When I right click on that entry a window pops up and has 'info' and 'edit as hex'. Neither one allows me to change the value. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks for your help again,

TW

When I right click on that entry a window pops up and has 'info' and 'edit as hex'.

The Aired program edits work slightly different then what most of us are accustomed to TW. On the line with this entry left click the Grey rectangle that starts the line. A small window will open up with the number, ready to be edited. Key in 2.000000....then push the "Enter" key on your keyboard. Exit the program, and when asked to save click yes.

Being a bit thick.

This may be a daft question, but where does one acquire said Mustang? The SU website seems to only have a CFS3/FS2004 version.

Cheers,

PomBee.:ernae:
