SkySpirit 767- I don't get it.

As you may or may not know, the Group SkySpirit is a Facebook group that was formed by Hiroshi Igami to finish the Boeing 767 he started when Posky broke up. It is quite an active page. Aside from occasional flare ups by the same kids that ruined Posky, and people asking for this and when is that going to be done, it has been informative and constructive. A couple XML tweaks he added recently I just can't wrap my head around.

1. The inboard flaps and elevators will droop with engines off and hydraulic pumps off.
2. The rudder will move with the wind if the engines and hydraulics pumps off.

I don't know about you all, but once I get to the gates and shut the engines down I don't leave my sim open as a screen saver. These XML tweaks were requested so obviously there are those that do. As developers are getting tricky with the xml gauges that add cool visuals, it seems to come to a cost for the multiplayer experience. Nosegear locked 90 degrees off, the newer Airbus A380 by Project Airbus has no landing gear in multiplayer. All for some eye candy that you are going to look for maybe one time. I guess these devs never fly in multiplayer. I don't know at what cost the tweaks on this 767 will be in multiplayer mode as I have not flown it there yet. I guess I better find out so I can learn how to remove them if needed.

I don't understand the "in's and out's" of how multiplayer affects aircraft as opposed to the way they would normally display out of multiplayer, but I know that up until recently, developers built aircraft based on the off-line sim experience, or at least that's how it is perceived by me. I remember a particular F-15 that had some cool animations where once on the ground and shut down, the radome would open to the maintenance position and the ladder would appear with the canopy open. Looked great on the ground, but in multiplayer. . .in full flight, that's what you saw. Totally useless for multiplayer.

Again, I don't understand why multiplayer mode affects an aircraft that way and maybe someone much more versed in design can explain it, but most airplanes are developed for the basic simming experience. . .if they also work for multiplayer, that's even better. . .but that's not what they're necessarily built for.

Agreed. To each his own...however personally I don't really care about 'eye candy' visuals. I'm much more of a systems simuations fan, and I'd gladly give up a little visual acuity in order to have a model with more detailed systems. I'm guessing a lot of fans of POSKY planes must fly in spot view or take endless screenshots while parked at the gate if they place such emphasis on visuals?
