Slow loadup

highpockets

SOH-CM-2025
Hey guys. I have several theaters of ops and some seem to take forever to load missions. I expect that in MTO because I have many of Rami's campaigns there. However the one that loads the slowest only has about 80 missions total. What should I look for, if anything, to speed things up.
I am running Windows XP with a Dell Intel dual core and 4 GB ram. I have all CFS 2 "stuff" on the F drive, not the C drive.
Thanks

Sarg
What do I do with the stock A/C or ships that are not a part of the mission requirements? Doesn't CFS 2 go berzerk if they cannot be found. I know the sound alias is important. I have 93 ships and 51 A/C.

Jim,

I think I know what the issue is, I'll answer after I get home from church. 😎

Jim,

The issue is probably a combination of two factors.

1) With the various land class, water class, and scenery layers, (Malta, Gibraltar, MTO coastlines, etc) the sim is loading a whole lot of scenery. Depending on your computer speed, this can take up a bit of time.

2) The missions themselves dictate how fast they load. Missions involving a high number of objects (such as attacks on harbors, as an example) necessitate ships, vehicles, and anti-aircraft guns. The larger the mission file is, the longer it will generally take to load.

Hey guys. Just as an FYI. I discovered my heat sink bracket was broken (how that happened I don't know) causing the cpu to overheat and limp along. That caused the sim to load REAL slow and had herkey jerky flight motions. It finally shut down and when I opened the case I discovered the issue.
New heat sink and fan and now she is loading and running as it should be. :jump:
