Slow or nonworking joystick buttons

Joystick buttons to unlock brakes and to switch from console to exterior view sometimes require multiple attempts to get them to respond. These buttons work immediately in
FSX so it is not the problem with the joystick. It seems it is the FS2020 program early in a new flight, perhaps catching up with other tasks.

The only time I've seen that is on the few random times when my sim decides that it wants to run in single digit frames. But if I back out, restart, and go again, all seems fine.
