Small AFCAD and Runway12 successes!

I finally got around to unzipping AFCAD and Runway12 today...and spent some time working on my personal little GA airport. Starting with the default OI60 (Gorman, Mansfield, Ohio), I added a few start points using AFCAD. Then, using Runway12, added a few hangars, a pop machine, a static Piper in one hangar (then went back in to AFCAD and deleted the start point for that hangar), added a older style Chevy S-10 Blazer/GMC S-15 Jimmy 4X4 (which I will repaint to look like my dearly departed 1989 S-15 Jimmy "Maria". Still need to add some bits and pieces to make it look like the strip of a GA Flying Club, you know, some barrels, some crates, a few more vehicles, would love to find some more static GA aircraft that will work with Runway12.

And I was pleasently surprised to find at the base of the hill that the Gorman Flying Club is situated on, is a small lake (using Rhumbafloppy's world mesh)...so I had to populate that lake with a few water start points, a few land based start points, a couple hangars for my amphibs, a small cottage for the club members to hang out in, some rusty barrels, a nice full size Chevy Blazer, a Chevy airport truck, and a Chevy flatbed up by the treeline. I created this as a separate airport, from scratch. Piece of cake actually.

So not only do I have my Gorman Flying Club, but I also have the annex for it, the Gorman Flying Club Floater's Field. How cool is that?

All in all I found AFCAD, or at least the little parts of it that I used today, to be quite easy. And Runway12 was very easy..I didn't ever read the directions, but figured it out all on my own.

Ha!!! I had a 1985 S-10 appropriately named the "Gray Ghost" because it was mostly rusted out!

Good job on your airport. Any screenies?

I am holding off on screen shots until I get everything done. I have run into an issue with some of the Runway12 library items....they aren't taking their texturing....I have checked and rechecked to make sure I have all the texture files copied over from the 3 object libraries into the unzipped libary texture folder...all there and accounted for. But the Chevy Flatbed, the RV, the tool chests and others objects are not taking texture.

I repainted the hangars that I used to make them fit in with the whole concept better. The Eagle Group sign on the front of the buildings have been repainted with Gorman Flying Club and an old pilot training sign. The tin roofs have been painted a nice green...the hangars really stand out now and are unified between both upper (land) and lower (water) parts of the flying club.

My old Jimmy was a doozy of a truck. 214,000 miles on that 4.3 litre V-6 and it did not burn a drop of oil. Still had the power to smoke both back tires on dry pavement (came factory equipped with a locking rear deferential and 3.77:1 gearing)...even with the brand new $190 each tires that I put on her. People swore up and down that Maria had a V-8, but I showed them that she in fact had 6 plugs, 6 plug wires...thus making her a 6 cylinder. Had an exhaust rumble like a sports car. I had her up to 130mph once. But her days were short. While the motor and tranny were still good to go, everything else about her was GONE. Simply worn out. I miss that old Jimmy. But I don't miss the spiders that lived in the non-functioning heating vents.

Obio, I have also noted that the some RWY12 scenery does not take "texture" - I have had all - all RWY12 textures installed. Not sure if it was just me or not (smile).
