Well finaly winter has come here and im searching for good snowy ground textures (detail1.bmp file), could somebody help me?

I used to have 4 details all labeled as to their preferred use but lost it somewhere and haven't got around to making another. I seem to remember for snow the default was about as good as it got. Does the environment file affect snow color/texture too?

Just checked my Addon Scenery file. Two of the ones I use are "Alaska_Total_Ice.zip" and "Canada_Total_Ice.zip," at least those are the install names. What these do is provide pretty good snow cover for Canada and Alaska, but they also ice over the lakes and rivers making them landable with wheels or skis. There is a slight drawback in that the lake surfaces have slightly-noticeable "squares" on them due to adapting the file to the parameters imposed on it by the design of FS9 itself. These provide an EXCELLENT add-on to any winter scenery you install. I'm looking for any more that may be of use to you but wanted to give these to you to get you started.

Do those come with their own detail files? A detail that looks sharp in milder months giving nice depth to grass will unfortunately make snow cover look like the ground is covered with rainbow trout. It is full of multi-hued color dots and patches and looks anything other than white snow. Opening the detail files the best snow one had very uniform and homogeneous texture, whereas good grass ones have more contrasting texture aspects. At least that's the way it looks to me. For another set of textures (does not include a detail) I would have a look at glacier.zip with the only author reference from his e-mail; eguichard@ifrance.com . I seem to remember it looked pretty good.

Well i found nice snow white and blinding texture replacement, but at distance everything is typically gray, guess i have to stay with default texture.
