• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Flight Sim Junkie
Not sure what's going on tonight but between freeze ups and crashes I must of attempted a flight about 20 times (not exaggerating) so far tonight. The last one I thought I was finally in, went through the checklist in 2d and just about to crank the engines. Figured I'd do that in vr so hit ctrl-bckspc and crash. As fun as this sim can be, it has to be the most unstable software I've encountered in my life (again, no exaggeration). Including prior sims.

Might be a driver problems, I could make some flights yesterday without any issues, switching several times between VR and 2D.

What are your system specs?

Open a command prompt with admin rights…
Go through each of the following steps one at a time. Copy each line, one at a time , paste it into the Dos window (crtl + V) and press return
and it will then run. Wait until each runs and finishes before you move on to the next one.
When you are completely finished, Restart your computer and then try to see in MS2020 will start and run properly
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /checkhealth
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /scanhealth
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth
sfc /scannow
Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore
Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
RESTART your computer as the last step. Then go for a test flight.

Good advice @udidwht. Last year one of the MSFS official forum members posted a DISM batch file which I've been using ever since (see attached). Unzip and save it to your desktop, right-click and select run as admin.

It finally worked but it took from 2 until 8 PM for it to do so. Thanks for all the suggestions up above and will use them today to help clean things up.

Also, there was a post over on Avsim where other people were having a hard time last night so I wasn't alone. I don't know maybe it was the aurora.
