So, how big is yours?

I am of course talking about your FS9 installation.

Following a massive PC problem, I thought I was going to have to reload all of flight sim software which has taken me six years to accumulate. Fortunately I didn't have to reinstall anything and only had to alter a few settings, but as a matter of interest, I clicked on the FS9 root folder to see how big it had got over the years, it is:

44 GB and has 360,000 files in 6,000 folders. I was wondering how this compared with other FS9 installations around the globe, so go on, tell us how big yours is.

[edit] I have other scenery folders installed outside of the root FS9 folder, but I haven't included these, simply because I forgot them, but they add up to over 260MB, but do not include things like joystick's and scenery making utilities like EZ-scenery

Wow. That's a lot. I rang in at 11.4 GB, 64,984 files in 1,948 folders. It would have been more but I lost all gauges and folders under Gauges when I installed an add-on product the other day. The only thing remaining under gauges was those added by the add-on. It was Carrier Strike Force by Abacus. They are checking into it but have no record or experience with it happening elsewhere. They suggested I ask in the forums. I'm literally sick to my stomach as I think of some panel projects that had not been saved off recently and are now gone forever.

Until my recent HD glitch, I had 5 heavily populated installs of FS2004. Those 5 installs ate up over half of a 250 gig HD....and all of my add on scenery and mesh, all of my sound packs where in folders outside of the sim directory....so they were not part of that total. Now, I just have 2 sparsely populated installs....taking my time and only installing those aircraft that I know that I will spend time flying....no point in having a thousand or more aircraft if I only fly 40 of them on a regular basis.

Sound packs...I have 304 individual sound packs...with more in the develop stages.

I have too much scenery and planes installed

Who of us doesn't ? :engel016:

Here's mine:

FS9 main folder: 63 GB,
aircraft included: 47 GB, 612 folders
outsourced aircraft, unused: 27 GB, 354 folders

Addon scenery (seperate folder outside FS): 17 GB, 651 folders
But not all of this is activated, lots of FS2002 stuff included.

Btw:
My slick FSX install amounts to 16 G, stagnating...

Still 20 Gigs free space on the FS drive!

@ Frank:
Ever thought of a carrier-based air raid on Abacus? :angryfir:

Cheers,
Markus.

My FS9 folder is 19.2 Gb, the only add-ons I got are planes and thats 16.2 Gb alone.:applause:

Only 14.4 GB, but I never installed any sort of mesh or scenery packages other than a few freeware upgrades.

My FS9 installation is currently at 7.65 GB, 55,453 files and 2,361 folders. While on the surface that doesn't seem like much I also have a reserve folder labeled 'FS2004 Aircraft Reserve' that weighs in at a whopping 30.1 gigabytes, 69545 files in 6563 folders.

edit: forgot to mention I have Silver Wings installed, a couple of AI packs (mainly bizjets-ultimate GA), about 109 aircraft (including the AI) in the main install and 832 aircraft in the Reserve. Wow that's a lot, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy every last one of them somehow.

Here's mine:

37.2 GB, 113,528 files, 438 folders... I have several custom scenery packs installed and 'one helluvalot' of planes.

We got 26.3 Gb on the primary HD, and 62.6 Gb on the external storage HD.

The main FS9 folder fluctuates in size a lot based on any a/c I move to or from the external storage. Since I have a small HD overall, I try to manage the footprint as much as possible.

The external drive contains not only a/c folders, but any scenery I no longer use, all the manuals and other documents that came with the individual installs. That way I can still reference them, but they do not consume any space on my primary HD,

These total do not include the tons of CDs I've burned with original freeware or payware downloads or full a/c folder for a/c I no longer fly.
