[SOLVED] No parkings at Edwards AFB ??

Daube

SOH-CM-2025
Hi all,

Tonight I wanted to make a short test flight with the F-18, and I thought about starting from the famous Edwards AFB. Unfortunately, in the position selection dropdown, I can only choose some runways, no parking or gate or anything like that. What could be the problem here ?

I have FSX Acceleration, Edwards is supposed to be one of the most detailled default scenery in the game....

Thanks in advance for any help...

The problem is what every stock military airfields in FSX has - only runway start locations. Other than mid/large size commercial fields, I know of no stock military airfield in FSX that have ramp parking spots. FS9 was the same, incidentally.

At the very least, you'll need to add them using ADE, or some other AFCAD editing tool. I know of no FSX Edwards AFB revamp that specifically adds parking, though I have seen this, to add some statics - though I know it's not what you're after, and won't fix your problem, still something to consider:

Maybe you have to wait a little bit more to fsx loads the complete afcad from the afb. It happens that when you have many installed scenerys, fsx has more work on loading the afcad of the airport that you select.
Not saying that it´s what´s happenging to you, but for test, wait a little and see if the parking positions appears ...

That's very strange though, I've never had such a problem.
And Edwards, although being default, is still a "detailled" scenery, not the usual default AFB lost in the middle of generic-land...

You're right - no one's disagreeing with you that it isn't detailed. KEDW in FS9 had some interesting, albeit not very accurately rendered details (Orbiter, etc.) - never had parking in its AFCAD.

No one's saying it makes sense. Indeed, why every non-grass strip airport doesn't have at least a half dozen GA parking spots is beyond me...but alas, that's the idiosyncracy of FS. Maybe it was too much work to do ... don't know.

Hope that helps.

This is a modified airport file for the FSX-Acceleration\SP2 Edwards AFB. The "stock" airport, though loaded with great scenery, did not provide any parking for AI or user aircraft. This file, created with Airport Design Editor (ADE), adds plenty of parking to enable your AI to use this facility.
