Some CFS2 Questions about Effects and Etc.

Hi;
I've asked this in the panel forum, but posting here as well just in case someone will know some of the answers to this.

I'm getting close (finally!) to a release of an aircraft, but I'm trying to put some finishing touches on - including a few effects tweaks. I've got a ton of questions, but I'll start slow.

Here goes.

First, for some reason, in my CFS2, the engine fire small (fx_engfire_s.fx) and the engine smoke (fx_engsmoke.fx) are the same exact effect (a small "fire".) Did I get something messed up, or did MS mess it up?

Next, has anyone done a custom set of damage effects for jet engines? Also, is there a way to keep the fire effects from going out above a certain speed? I have attached the standard engine fire effect to a jet engine, but at the speeds the plane flies, the fire keeps going out. Is there a way to prevent this (aside from flying slower)?

Also, is there a way to have a custom engine start-up effect?

Appreciate any help.....

I'm working with this and also the SDKs from FS2002 in an effort to produce the effects I'm looking for, but I'd hate to do all this (all this alchemy makes my head hurt) and then find out it was unnecessary.

Paul,

I am sorry to say, I think all of the effects guys have moved on or gotten
out of making them. Not much new has been put out for a long time.

The Details

Part of the problem is that effects and such things are the details, the little bits that if they work right, can be taken for granted. The right effects can make a good airplane great, but without a purpose, they just seem to get lost.

All this alchemy I'm dabbling in right now makes my poor little head hurt, but there's not any alternative. There are still a few experts out there in some of the dark arts, but you are right, all too many have moved on, leaving some pretty big holes in all this...
