Some F-4 Phantom pictures....

Captured these from a magazine, and thought I would post them. The Phantom was such an awesome aircraft; both in appearance and its capability.

Great pics, Chief...thanks for sharing. I just went on the hunt the other day for some nice F-4 pics to add to my collection of aircraft pics that I use in my photo screen saver. The ones you posted got added to that collection.

At some point, I really need to break down and buy one of the nicer payware F-4 packages. The Phantoms I fly in FS9 are the old Alphasim freeware Double Uglies from CFS2/FS2002. They work, but they leave a lot to long for.

I love those old Navy paint jobs. It's almost like they're saying "Hide? We don't don't hide, here we are MoFu." .

Nice shot of the VF-111 Sundowners F-4N, now there's a flashy paint job for ya. Back then the USS ROOSEVELT on the fuselage was the Franklin D. Roosevelt (CV-42), not to be confused with the much newer Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71).

Oh yeah! The FID!

I can just imagine what it must have been like for the Vietcong to see/hear a Phantom come screaming down on them on a bomb/strafe run.....

Nothing to start building excitement for A2A's Accu-sim Phatom II than to start digging up all these old pictures. I have been watching videos myself on you tube. This one personally gets the blood pumping thinking of all the crazy things I am going to do once I get my hands on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmXvQqEcJZ8 . I must say though that these pilots have a steel pair though, cause if I was piloting one of these in real life I would not be trying half of the stuff they are doing. In the sim though it is all fair game. :ernae: Not to mention I only saw my first real F-4 in person a few weeks ago, and that has really amped my excitement up quite a few notches. That was the most impressive bird doing demo's at the airshow in my opinion. Loud, and fast.

The "FID" was USS Forrestal (CV-59), from her motto "First In Defense". The Roosevelt was always the "FDR" as in the President's initials. There are also derogatory nicknames for most ships (hehe) but I won't go there, you sailors all know the ones I'm talking about.
In Olongapo City, Philippines the bar girls always knew when to start getting ready for work when they heard the F-4's flying in to NAS Cubi Point. The fly-in meant a carrier and her escorts would soon be in port. Cha-ching! :d

I never had the good fortune to have made a visit to "Po city"; having only been on Med Cruises. But sure did hear about that place.

Common phrase I heard about: "I love you, no sh... Take me stateside, buy me airconditioned Honda!"

Just to start a turf war on Phantom versions, I say that the F-4E was the best of them all because it had a gun in the nose. :d

Although the ultimate version has to be the turkish F-4E 2020. Glass cockpit and more "under the hood" changes than you can count.
