The Beta testing for KPVC is ongoing and as the testing continues I have also made additional changes and improvements. . .it's the nature of the beast that is scenery design I guess. At any rate I expect I may be ready to release this weekend.
Now a few words about the scenery I do. several years ago I decided to take the leap to Orbx (Global Basic, Vector Basic, Open Landclass NA, Pacific Northwest and so on). I do not have the ability to revert to the default FSX textures, when I installed Orbx everything default was removed as there is no comparison. Because of that all my scenery is built on the Orbx ground textures and color matched to that so if you don't have those addons my scenery won't mesh with the default. Recently I have decided to make an alternate version for those who don't have Orbx by stripping out the photoreal ground textures and replacing that with a simple airport background. . .not as immersive but at least the scenery will work with most other ground textures whatever those might be.
With the introduction of P3D_V5 it looks as though that's where my scenery falls out of sync. I don't have, nor will I ever have V5. I made the decision after I went to V4.5 that I was done with updating P3D. Partly because I was tired of the updates and partly because I think MSFS 2020 will move past P3D (and XPlane) and become the primary Sim for the future. I am not designing anything for V5 because it appears, based on photos from a beta tester, that what I compile using the FSX SDK, isn't entirely compatible. Custom objects still seem to be fine but the AFCAD has problems and I'm not interested in finding a solution, so if you are able to make any of my sceneries work to your satisfaction, please feel free to do so or even pass them around if others are interested. In your readme remove my name from credits and show you as the author as I won't field any questions for remanufactured scenery.
Finally, I am not a master scenery designer, honestly I build scenery for me and me alone using my techniques which do not follow the norm used by the true scenery gurus but it works for me. . . .but I am more than happy to share most of what I do so others can enjoy the scenery as well. Because I have my scenery settings the way I want them it is inevitable that those settings will not jive with other systems, especially where elevation variations come into play. I understand very little where mesh is concerned and I have turned down many request for scenery because the area involved was completely different from the actual location and I had no idea how to reform the mesh to work. My usual fix is to use flattens to try to fix some areas but the results are mixed and usually not ideal. I mention this only because where elevation becomes a problem once others install my scenery I have very little that I can do and I have to leave it to the individuals to figure it out.
So basically I do scenery for me. If you like the scenery and it works for you, either with no tweaks or just a few simple ones. . .that's great. . .but beyond that I will assist if I can but at some point it will be. . . .if you don't like it. . .delete it.
I'm going back to fine tune Provincetown now. Enjoy your day!
