Some people are never satisfied :-D ... damage effects question

Prefixing this with a smile, being mindful of Winder and others' comments in other threads about how dependent further development is on sales... I don't want to give anyone the twitch nor imply this sim is anything other than the canine's cojones already.

However, I have a small dilemna. I like to see damage effects (mostly I see them on my own crate after 1.2, but there you go :d ... L2P, self) but then the hi-res skins are so fecking lush I want them too.

Were there/are there any plans to have damages effects at hi-res, or is there a technical limitation?

I am, of course, singing the praises of BHaH to every sim enthusiast and pilot acquaintance I can.

Good question. Why no DM on Hi Res skins?

Just curious.

Are we talking about decal-damage or actual structural damage? I've yet to see more than smudgy bullet-hole decals, though I've seen a couple of screenies showing kites with big pieces of missing fabric with ribs showing. If I'm not going to see the latter in-game I think I'll give the high-res a go.

But if hi-res precludes visible structural damage, like the Camel's crunched wing-tips...

Test it and see. Set your skins to high res then fly over the enemy airfield and let Archie have a few shots at you. Then go head to head with an enemy plane and clip him one.
I did it again today and lost the other wing tip... my mechanics hate me, but while they are repairing my plane i pinch the squad bike and shoot up to Paris for a few days.
I reckon the HQ will cotton on soon and assign me two planes to keep up in the air and out of Paris.:ernae:
