Some question from a re-flyer ...

Hi there,

after a long pause, I've installed CFS3 again.
A clean CFS3 3.1a, CFS3+FP, MAW, BoB.

The first two versions work without problems, but the latter two make some trouble:

If I select some planes in MAW, I get a CTD. This happends with the greek MB 151 f.e.
I've installed the one-in-all version from MrJmaint site.

In BoB the cockpit of the Emils looks like this:
There seems something missing ...

Thanks a lot!

PS: Is CFS3-BoB currently under further development?

Cfs3 - cfs2

I am running both CFS2 and CFS3 on my desktop. I loaded up my memory to 8gb and installed a top NVidia card. That fixed all my problems. As far as I know no more work is being done on BoB ETO just now. However I do know that Rami (Andrew Talbot) is doing lots of missions for CFS2. If I remember right some CTD's came from the software not being able to find the file or that the file was not loaded.

He provided me access to CFS2 ETO (European Theater Early and Late); EFTO (Eastern Front); MTO (Mediterranean Early and Late); Plus PTO (Pacific Theater). There are downloads available from SOH for all of above. Hope this helps.

In MAW the MB151 is supposed to be an AI-only as far as I can remember, so you probably shouldn't be flying it anyway. Having said that, it shouldn't cause you to CTD! What other aircraft cause this in MAW?

For the BOB 109, you're missing the reticule dds file. The cockpit model calls for gr_reticle.dds (get a hex editor, it'll allow you to find all these things easily by searching the model file. I use XV132 - http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm - which is incredibly simple and useful) so the easiest would be to find the stock reticle_gr.dds in your aircraft/shared folder, make a copy and rename it gr_reticle.dds. Leave it in the shared folder and you should be fine.

Even better is to include the MAW 109Es into BOB, using different skins. Look around in the downloads section, you'll find a few things.

Hi and welcome back :)

BoB is still under development albeit slowly. I do have an update for it but just need to get around to compiling and releasing it!
The other 109 pits are the MAW ones and are much better.

Hi again!

I've installed some planes from fouteman, all works fine.
But the orig. BoB-109E missing still their crosshair ... In the BoB-109-shared folder ...\Microsoft Games\Combat Flight Simulator 3.BoB\aircraft\sharedBoB Me 109 shared is a file called gr_reticle.dds, but it doesn't show ...

In MAW seems not the plane the problem, but the airfields. Every time I select a greek airfield, i get a CTD ...

Hi MrReset,

I finally fixed that Bf 109E-4 JG2 because of your post! Taking Nigels advice (as I take advice from All
the members here), I saw that the Bob_BF109E-02_cockpit0.m3d was looking for 'retical_gr.dds'.
Spelling errors strike again! (or was it?) :)

For MAW, and other expansions too, sometimes a valid airfield name
does not come up in 'Location', so you have to select one.

Seems to be a MAW revival going on lately, here and over in MP too!

Thanks to Firestorm, in BoB all works fine!
Thanks!

MAW has to be tested this evening!

PS:
In the BoB-splashscreen are two little errors:
Adolf Hitler, not Adolph
Sportpalast, not Sportsplast

So BoB works without errors! Thanks a lot!
But MAW is another case ...
I can't start from any bases in greece, yugoslavia or albania.
No single-mission, no campaign ...
Any clues?

You have to lower the scenery detail to 3 for those countries to work if I remember correctly.

Odd - I don't remember this, and I'm running on all 5s (on my new computer!!!)

Did you change the start airfield the very first time you launched a flight? That is something I do remember you're supposed to do, although why, I have no idea.

If all else fails, delete it and start again. Manually delete it, though, I think... Including the application data folder.

It was on my previous computer, and seemed to be memory related. The Ploesti Raid Mission in particular would let you fly for hours and then when you got to within about 10 miles of the objective it would lock up unless you had turned the details down before you started. I haven't tested it on all 5s again in a long time.

--this happened to me as well and the delete/reinstall made all OK

Yes in MAW there are areas where the MAW Sim will LOCK Up, and you must set your Scenery and Terrains sliders on 3 to prevent this.
When I built the Ploesti missions (years ago) this was explained because of scenery stretching, by one of the Masters here .
Even on my very fast New Win7 machine I MUST do this in MAW..

I am very sorry to say MAW was never finished in the Scenery, Try to fly from the Bosporus into the Black Sea The Dardanelles aren't there..
Turkey and the outer areas are not finished.. Bummer.

With that said: I still think MAW is a wonderful Sim and I am grateful for the Masters who built this..
