Some REX for FS9 shots, 10 images

Taken on my first flight; unedited.

Quick review:

Pros:

- Great cloud textures (tons of them)
- AWESOME water effects (i'm most impressed by this)
- Good runway, taxiway, etc. textures
- Basically unlimited combinations of cloud/water/sky, etc.
- Makes FS9 feel very sharp when running at 1920x1200 res
- New strobe, landing, beacon, lights...pretty nice.
- No FPS hit (if you have a good machine)
- Great addon for only 30$

Cons:

- UI is very slow and laggy. When it's busy doing something, it doesn't respond to user input.
- It also takes a good 8-10 min to install a new theme. Too slow for someone like myself who only has 30min a day to fly. Even when turning Water Updates off, it still takes 5-8min to install. I'm going to save out each of the texture updates and manually install them using a batch file.
- Weather program is extremely slow. Takes a long time to boot up. I can have FS9, AV6.5, AI Smooth, etc. all loaded before this program even starts. And once it loads, it doesn't seem to update if i change airport location. I'm back using AV6.5
- Sky colors are too saturated. I'm using my old collection instead (from FE and freeware ones)

Anyways, still a great product which breaths new life into FS9. If they fix the laggy UI problem, this will be an almost perfect product.

nope, you don't need to uninstall anything. You can choose to use REX's weather generator, or Active Sky's...the two does not conflict.

However, if you are using Active Sky's cloud textures, then you'll need to turn that feature off if you want to use REX's cloud textures.

I only use Active Sky for the real-time weather.

Trans,

The AS textures are held in AS until you submit them to FS and then they are placed in the proper FS folders.

Thanks,

Not to mention that Feng has that gorgeous Mac moniter! Great shots Feng.:applause:

Thanks for the HU in that AS and REX do not interfere. I happen to like AS's weather engine better also.

Still want to know the photoreal textures you're using?

Awesome shots! I recognize the Megascenery Oahu, but what other scenery are you using in some of the other shots?
