If proper measures are not taken to secure your content, you are bound to lose your privileged spot on the first page of the search engine. Because the page jacker uses the same keywords and the same content, with a few exceptions here and there

I think our current technology is starting to advance with the ability to catch these idiots !

Greetings all, I've been getting this a fair bit when using Google. I get re-directed to a gambling site, not if I click on simouthouse's main address but if I use a 'secondary' simouthouse link, (as in an A/C or repaint link). I have been looking on my PC for a bug, I was sure it was at my end!

Thanks for bringing the true problem into the ether.

Thanks for the HU Ickie - the whole issue sounds deplorable.

I've relied heavily on Google as a powerful search engine in the past, but have recently started using more Bing, as Roger mentioned.

Do you think the emailing is wise? This kind of screwed up 'personality' may actually thrive on the reaction/attention.

Is it not technically possible simply to block his entry to SOH?
 
it is a USA company and mass emailing does get results, lol

I did ban their IP and it seems to have stopped

if it hasent i need to know the exact SOH page that is giving us the bogas URL
 
next I will go to data center where their server is located and threaten them. In the USA everyone is afraide of lawsuits.
 
Do not fall for the scam of a webpage telling you url2short is a trogin and click here for a free scan, note url2short is not a virus it is a website selling software to shorten your webpage links but it is a total scam to let hackers take your place on search engines to get hits, they sell them hits, The problem is they knock good names off the top of search engines and for us it took 10 years to get there.
 
I noticed the redirect for a few weeks now..though you were already aware of the issue. Fortunately my adblocker and modified Hosts file prevents the page from loading on my systems.
 
Well, all I can say Ickie, is keep up the good work.

Most of us probably don't have a clue regarding the everyday tasks you hard-working folk have on your agendas.

One thing for certain though, I'm sure everyone here deeply appreciates the efforts and input from all of you folk there behind the scenes.

Why would they do this?

Is it just vandalism, or is it part of a process to gather any kind of personal information..?
 
Best way to overload his system is to set your email to auto sent every other minute and let it send to him for the rest of the week...lol. It will overload his server and :pop4::pop4::pop4:. If all our members jumped in and did that they would have a triple poo poo.:mixedsmi: Now that would really piss'em off. Who's your daddy nnnnnnnow ?
 
Ickie, I'd contact google data centers, google takes this kind of thing very seriously, specially when pagerank comes into play.

I never click the free scan offers... ever!

If one pops up, I shut down my web browser and often immediately begin to scan for anything it might have planted.
