Spanish Civil War

BeauBrummie

Home for tea and tiffin!
You know with all this Spanish Civil war stuff coming out, we could do with a few more mission sets. I know next to nothing about the airwar in this theatre. Can anyone recommend some reference material? I could do with a change of mission building scene:isadizzy:

SCW

Hi Guys

I have been doing some research on SCW too and what I found is mostly land battles and sea engagements. Only the bombing of Barcelona and the air/attempted invasion of Menorca and Majorca by Republicans and Nationalists. The few air conflicts that are mentioned took place outside the map area of CFS3, in other words southern part of Spain.

If I do a mission, how do I submitt it for consideration a as an add-on to the sim?

I keep doing some more research (I found some websites but cannot find where I put them in my computer). I will try to let you know

Keep providing us with the excellent work you guys do

God bless

Hi PRang,

Glad to hear you want to take a stab at mission building. With the geographical problems, don't worry too much. Do what I do, make the mission a 'whatif', and then try to find the most suitable part of the ETO map to use. For example for a Norwegian fjord, I've used a Irish lough.

With the missions itself, find yourself a small band of willing volunteers to test them before you release them. I will guarantee that those guys will pick up errors and make suggestions for improvements. It's up to you if you use their advice, but it will save you egg on the face when you publish it. When you're ready you'll have to get a pass word from admin to allow you to upload here, or there are other sites which host add-ons.

Being rather ignorant myself on the background of this subject I once bought and read Anthony Beevor's "The Spanish Civil War". After reading that I was almost as confused as I was before but I can say that I cannot remember much air action described.
On the other hand I do recall a Biggles adventure that was situated in Spain during the Civil War and that had some serious aerial action... ;)

Interesting politically correct sort of scenario, where they don't actually want to be on either side! Clever thinking, Captain Johns!

Hi
Thanks for the advice and the suggestions on how to go about making SCW missions.
Below are a few of the website I found; still searching. I read the National Library of Australia has some books about the SCW, one in particular " Air War Over Spain" - Jesus Salas Larrazabal
supposed to be very good. Lets ask some of our friend in Australia to check it out.

http://www.zi.ku.dk/personal/drnash/model/spain/index.html (A/C in SCW)
http://surfcity.kund.dalnet.se/us_tinker.htm (American Ace SCW)
http://www.libs.uga.edu/flyers/ (Flyers of fortune)
http://catalogue.nla.gov.au/Record/1723242 (National Library of Australia)
http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?showtopic=6844 (Battle of the Ebro River Summer 1938)

Hope those sites helps some

God Bless

SCW Missions

Hi
Comment and request on SCW Theater:
1. It seems to me that the banners for Nationalist forces and Republican forces are reversed. That is the area where you select the airplanes to fly. Correct me if I am wrong, Red-yellow-red flag (banner) should be Nationalist; yet, aircraft under it are Republicans, and red-yellow-blue flag should be Republican; aircraft listed below are Nationalist. It is minor; just wondering.

2. I made some SCW missions and I need some volunteers to test them - any takers. First time and I am open to more ideas and suggestions to make them better. I have a couple; I am working on other; but, I have a problem in that my wingmen do not seem to respond to my "attack" command in those missions - cannot figure it out.

3. http://www.fjavier.com/aire1936-39/otros/index.htm - This site has some good information on air operations during the SCW.

4. For MajorMagee: Any chance on a Bf-109B-1/2 Condor Legion standalone model?

Thanks in advance for everything

God bless
