21st December 2010 marks the 23rd anniversary of the downing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. 270 people perished in that act of terrorism, including 11 people on the ground.
May the victims rest in peace.

I remember it well. I was a member of a Radio Ham emergency communications service at the time and Radio Hams were the only means of communication over the search area for the first couple of weeks. UK laws were changed to allow Hams to operate radios from the search helicopters (prior to that Hams could not operate aeronautical mobile).

I was on stand-by to take part in the search but the search was called off a couple of days before I was due to head north.
