Spitfires MkI

A few skins I'm sorting out for the PD Spitfire MkI. High-resolution, similar to the RN-N skin in ETO.

Anybody able to identify any of them? Pilot(s), squadron, station, date, etc? Little challenge to see who's still awake!

I have No idea who it is or where it is..
All I know for sure is that is ONE Beautiful Spit..
WOW..
BRAVO..
:salute::salute:

Too cool! Can't have enough mk1 Spits, I particularily like the Observer corps one, I was in that lot for a while.

It also appears to be to only one in A scheme camo, the others all appear to be in B?

Mind you should't that one be a mkII with that Post December stripe on the fuselage? ...then again its to early for my fudded brain to be tyng to think!

Thanks Nigel! :):applause::applause::applause:

edit...have now woken up it was a mkII....
http://episode2.org/2008/12/observer-corps.html

The only odd thing is that from this photo the a/c doesn't seem to have the two strengthening ribs on the uppersurface of each wing and which was peculier to the mkII.

Well, I've got both A and B schemes, as you see, so it just happened that way. I can never remember which is which, but there are a few in the B scheme - EB-Z, as you've seen, Richard Hillary's X4277 XT-M and N3290 GR-U. So it's about equal! Luck of the draw, in fact, because it always and only depends on what catches my eye...

You're right - Don Finlay's EB-Z (some conflict about the s/n, as well - some sources say it's P7618, and some P7666. As in the only photo I have of this aircraft, after its transfer to 54 Sqn as KL-Z, the erks have painted the Fighter Command band right across the s/n, it doesn't help...) is a MkII. But as I don't have an FM for a MkII, you'll have to pretend!

The ROC looks just the thing for people like us! Not too much running about and getting muddy, but lots of interesting things to do and see! If you have a copy, by the way, of the original colour badge, with the Firewatcher looking out across the countryside rather than forward out of the badge, I'd be grateful. If you look carefully, the one I'm using here isn't quite right! It's the ROC, not the Observer Corps, badge. Takes an expert eye, though, and I was thinking I'd get away with it... :icon_lol:

OK, now I've looked at your photo, it's from the same series. And the s/n looks very dodgy, because you have the very edge of a figure that looks more like an 8 than anything else just visible under the band. In any case, I can hide the s/n under the band and avoid trouble, but I like to know where possible anyway.

By the way, any chance of a MkI with the original TR9 aerial and the later pitot fitting? GR-U among others should be like that.

Yep, shouldn't be a problem Nigel. :)

Btw there is a mkII around somewhere on my HD, I'll dig that out while I'm at it.

Thanks, Clive!

The only problem I can see then is with copyrights... The FM and DM, just for starters. Unless we uploaded the model and textures without them.
