Splash Screen Question

I am making some custom ETO splash screens of both sides with some paintngs of mine, and they are coming out realy strange. I saved them as BMPs 800 x 600 but the colours are really weird. Is there one specific BMP colour format to use for this, some kind of RGB setting? Tnanks for any help on this.

any help much appreciated.

I am using Photoshop. I tried saving over a prevoius screen picture and it maintained the alpha channels but it is even worse :)

You must save the BMP's in 555 format. This will correct your colour-shift problem.

I use Microsoft's "Image Tool". I have attached it here for you.

Just "save" it. Then change the file extension to .rar

- simple instructions are included

that image tool worked perfects. was a great way to do it. Ended up with a set of 38 images from both ETO and PTO from both sides, with fighters, bombers, seaplanes and some combined naval and air images. Makes a real differnce to have some nice images to start up the sim with. thanks a lot for the help.

Country files can have screens called for in either .jpg or .bmp formats which is often a PITA. If you get a 'cannot find' popup, check the format. One of these days perhaps it will be standardized, but which one? = BMP or .jpg :icon_lol:?

Yo Wheat;

I've found that certain main screens MUST be .bmp's

.... but if it's a Nationality related screen listed in the country.cfg it can be changed from .bmp to .jpg with no pain at all.

FYI: JPG's are about 10% the size of the same pic in .bmp

ridge sent me his template and it worked beautifully. he said he would be uploading it again here, as the link was down. If anyone needs it before then happy to share if that is ok with him. it really helps a lot. You use it with Photoshop and then convert using the Image tool and things really work out well.
