Looking closer at that spy balloon, it looks like maybe a Light Detection and Ranging device (Lidar) was used and probably came in handy when over the missile silos
in Montana. A couple dish antennas can be seen on that rig. Wonder how much of that was recovered after it was shot down. The LIDAR looks to be located in the center
and just above that dish in the center.
