SSW G91 affected by update?

Morning,

I purchased the SSW G91 yesterday after I had installed the update, and the thing flies like a pig. Wondering if anyone who had the G91 before the update noticed a degrade in the flight model....recognizing the flight modeling overall is the weak point in MSFS!

I don't have it (yet), but always make sure you are using the Modern flight model option from within the MSFS settings. There are a number of aircraft designed for MSFS that don't fly correctly if using the Legacy flight model option. It may not be what's happening here, but just check and make sure.

Just did the test (modern flightmodel is always on in my install). Indeed, select the legacy flightmodel and it flies like a pig, select the modern flightmodel and it's all good. It is a model that was developed for a modern sim, so selecting the modern flight model seems logical. Makes me think that the legacy flightmodel is actually there for converted port overs.

The "Modern" flight model option is what should always be used with aircraft in MSFS - it's the new, MSFS flight modeling system. The "Legacy" flight model option is FSX flight modeling, and is not what MSFS-designed aircraft are meant to be used with. Unfortunately, some folks who recently bought the JustFlight Piper Arrow, which has some of the most accurate flight dynamics developed for MSFS to-date, thought that the flight modeling was off and was uncontrollable, where in fact they were using it with the "Legacy" option, not the "Modern" option as it should be and was designed for/to be used with. Modern flight model activated, and it will fly just as it should/is intended.

Thanks for the tip, guys. As I suspected, the flight model was already set to "MODERN". I'm just hoping the F-104G and TF-104G won't suffer from the same "problem" (F-104s are my favorite). So far, Dino has done the best job (I think) of getting around the MSFS flight model limitations. Unfortunately, the Gina still flies like a lead balloon.

I only have the FSX-version, but in that version there's a device on the floor behind the stick that locks the flight controls. I don't know if they also modeled it in the MSFS-version. Just move your mouse along the right side of the stick and you'll encounter a click spot. Or move your view point so you can look "behind" the stick.

I flies fine for me post update but I noticed the approach speed and sink rate were a bit high. I took a look at my flight model config and realized my flaps lift scalar is 0.35 and the original value was 0.77 which I modified after the previous FS2020 update screwed up the flap lift. Going to revert the value and see if that improves the approach speed.

Thanks Bryant! I'll take a look at that too. LOVE the G91....would love to get this one flying correctly.

There is an update (2.3.0) at simmarket. Downloaded and installed, but did't have time to check it out yet....

Thanks for the heads up on the update. Downloaded and installed it. No change. I wonder how much of it is MSFS' crappy flight model? Asobo REALLY needs to get that solved to start making this sim anything other than a fancy scenery viewer/screenshot generator. Dino's stuff and the new Spitfire both seem to behave themselves-- within the limits of the MSFS flight model.
