Start saved flight on ground

No I have not searched for the answer yet. LOL

I figured I would ask here first. I do a lot of bush type flying a lot of times landing on the ground or water. In FS9/FSX I could start that saved flight and continue with my journey cold dark and on the ground... or water.

The newest sim seems to start you in the air. I checked the saved flight and the "SimOnGround=True" flag is set.

Is this a bug they have not addressed yet or am I missing a step.

Dave, I think you have to go through the complete shutdown process, i,e, Main Menu-Quit to Desktop, to save a flight in its present state. I know to save Black Square aircraft you need to do this. If you start at a parking place, you should be in the previous state with engines shut down.

I think his question was, how can you start off-airport, on the ground/water, preferably cold and dark. As far as I know, there is no way, which really impairs bush and seaplane flying.

Selecting a parking spot as departure point, rather than the end of a runway, will put the plane in a cold and dark environment.

The problem here is that you can't select a grid reference as a parking spot - yet! That could be coming in MSFS 2024 with the new-style rescue missions.

Exactly. The question is about off-airport, where there are no parking spots. This is one of those things that could have been done on day 1, or at any time thereafter, with little effort and woukd have added a lot of bush flying functionality. The Sim has always promoted the bush flying aspect, yet never let you start in the bush.

Thanks that's what I was expecting. It would have been rather simple to implement this type of save. I will just have to fake the journey as best I can.

One more flight and I land at Alert Canada. From there I am hitting a bunch of airports that are in FSX (addon I think) but not in the new version of flight sim. So far since I left the US all the flights have been in the Cessna 172 Float plane.

Dave, I found this app on Flightsim.to. It might help with your problem.

rksoftware | FStarter for MSFS (flightsim.to)

That looks pretty good, I'd buy it if it works well, anyone tried it?

August

I considered buying it because it is by the guy who created FSRealistic. It is only $10.00. In the end, I decided I have no need for it since I always start at an airport.
