If you haven't tried it before - I only just came across it and this recent upgrade - it is an absolute hoot to fly. The work Steve Hess and colleagues have done is remarkable. The TFR they have created really works and is the only one for FS that actually is forward looking. Fly a mission from Thailand up to Hanoi and back hugging the ridges and mountains (get some good freeware mesh). Try it at night. It is a blast.

FS2004 General Dynamics F-111 Aardvark. v2. This is a long overdue update to the FS2004 AlphasimF111 package bringing new life to it. It updates the repaint textures. New repaints added include AFTI, TACT, FB-111A-CF, NASA, and FB-111A Tiger Meet liveries. There are two different cockpits and some new gauges, plus all the features of the original package. FSX SHRS General Dynamics F-111 Aardvark Aircraft Package. If you ever wanted to fly the F-111 skimming the tree tops at high speeds and whip around a mountain in a 60 degree bank while the autopilot does all the work, then this is the aircraft package for you. This update has the only True Terrain Following Radar system with pitch and roll stabilization that looks ahead of the aircraft to avoid mountains. It is integrated into the autopilot and instrument systems for auto or manual TF operation. The autopilot system models the real F111 autopilot Stability Augmentation Modes with pitch and roll sub-channels. Control stick steering uses pitch and/or roll control stick input to override the pitch and/or roll autopilot channel(s) without disengaging the autopilot settings. The autopilot settings are re-engaged using a button on your control stick returning the aircraft to autopilot control.

There are four different custom 2D and VC cockpits. Aircraft included are F-111E, F-111F, F-111G, FB-111A, FB-111A with pre AMPS avionics, and YFB-111A. Sixteen custom textures with a description for that tail number in the aircraft details menu. Over 110 functional gauges and switches. Included is a custom sound package. See the features doc for more details.

This package is based on the Alphasim F-111 freeware aircraft and is highly modified for FSX SP2 and Acceleration. You must have at least the unregistered version of FSUIPC. By Steve Hess and Roman Stoviak.

You'll like this version even better. A superb and accurate representation of the F-111, A model that has a lot of features, and THEY ALL WORK! :encouragement:

This has to be posted on the "best of" freeware somewhere, and there is some stiff competition out there!

I follow the above link and it takes me to a page the has a link to BOX, when I click the Download button there, nothing happens. What is the trick to downloading the beta?

Dave

ive talked about this not to long ago,and i feel no one believed me then..but ill say it again, two of my Uncles worked on the terrain following radar,Cleve and Jack Crusinberry, they claimed to have came up with the working prototype once they were told what was wanted of them.and my aunt Dorris,Cleves wife, also worked for a private contractor who worked for the Air Froce, she was the head installer of this system into the F111's at McClellan AFB,she had 15-20 people working under her lead for several years...like 20?..

Hanimichal,

That link takes me to the same place I have been going. It appears the Download link on BOX, works for some and not for others as indicated by the above comment by Seahawk, and the fact that when I hit the button do download, nothing happens.

Thanks,

Dave

It appears this project is very popular. Here is a post by Steve from his forum

"Monthly download limit has been reach for the download site. It sould reset on the 1st"
