Greetings All,
I've been having an issue with my flight stick (CH Fighterstick) and I'm curious if anyone else is having the same issue.
My first sortie in a Bristol Scout nearly ended at the edge of the airfield when I took off. I had to hold the stick all the way to starboard and full back just to maintain level flight. Fortunately I was able to set the "trim" wheels on the flight stick to stay aloft, but it seemed odd to me. At first I thought my stick was out of calibration, but I checked the ailerons and I saw they were visibly displaced to maintain level flight. Just odd. So I switched to a FE2B, and I had the same problem maintaining level flight. The FE2B has a gun emplacement, so I switched to the forward gun and discovered the "trim" I set to maintain level flight slewed the gun to the right. Once I returned the "trim" to neutral, the gun pointed exactly where it should. In short, it doesn't appear to be an issue of calibration.
While I know these kites fly far differently than a modern plane, I doubt they required full right stick to stay level, especially once they're up to cruising speed. I've been flying OFF P2 for a while now, and I've never seen this kind of behavior. For reference, I'm running a Dell M1730 XPS laptop with an Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 (2.4 GHz, 800Mhz, 3M L2 Cache), 2GB ram, with at NVIDIA SLI Dual GeForce 8700MGT with 512MB GDDR3 memory. My HOTAS is all CH products, Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, and Pro Pedals. I've been flying computer flight SIMs since they were invented, and I've spent many happy hours in both CFS3 and OFF P2.
Does anyone else have this kind of stick control issue? I would appreciate any insight you might have...
Thanks,
-Madoch
