Still Enjoying the L-049 ...

Oh man! A great plane, and good screenshots as well!

Thanks Milton. I need to run up those engines and get that girl some air time...

Bill

EDIT: Has anyone here flown her to England from NY? (Of course I was at 4X speed when at altitude and cruise).

EDIT: Has anyone here flown her to England from NY?

I flew her from Burbank to St Louis, St Louis to New York, New York to London (via Shannon), London to Rome, Rome to Athens and Athens to Riyaad Saudi Arabia during the Beta test for her. I would have taken her farther, but she was causing random CTDs and it became obvious that my comp was one of the few that had that issue with her.

The issue is somewheres in the panel and I never did get that straightened out. :censored:

Beautiful plane though that flies quite well as an AI here with the panel and sounds removed.

one of my most favorites..!! :ernae: dang... the radar nosed 749s
never made it... a true classic....!!

Has anyone ever seen this plane painted in WWII C-69 colors? I've always wanted that paint on this plane.

Chris

By the late John Howard White in the PAA Clipper livery over the northern Alps of Switzerland.

Hi Milton

It looks like you use the standard MS scenery (?)
I can recommend the great freeware Alps-Mesh by Sandmann/Ferranti.
It is a big DL, but it covers the hole alpine region in Europe (France, Italy, Switzerland and Austria). IMHO it gives a complete new appearance of this european area. (You can even recognize the "Eiger Nordwand" and the "Matterhorn".)

Cheers

Chris, I looked at here, Avsim, Flightsim, Cal-Classic, and Com-Central. Neither site had one nor have I seen one personally.

Milton, if you want that mesh, look here! There's lots of good freeware mesh out there for the taking, and it really makes for great flying in the mountains!

About a year or so ago, I installed Raimondo's former payware mesh worldwide. That made FS look like a whole new sim.

Just did a flight in this one last night, and discovered I have the original panel, not the VNCon. Willy, I'm not sure what could be causing your issues with the plane...

NP Tom, the development team couldn't figure it either when we were beta testing. Other than a probable gauge issue. As the VN Connie 2.0 panel works fine, it would have to be in one of the gauges that's not common between the two.

André, I have those textures backed up on CD. I have a 19-meter DEM overall mesh for the Alps, 76-meter and some 38-meter by FSGenesis. My LOD in the FS9.cfg is 21. Would there be any interference should I wish to reinstall these textures?

Thanks for bringing a classic back to my FS Hanger Milton.

I had that in FS2002 ever since I got the sim. Had it in FS2004 too on my old computer and had it in storage.

I had not gotten around to putting it back. Took a flight out of San Diego today, auto-pilot set at 15,600, airspeed at 200 kts, and heading of 340°. Sound is SWEET music! :d
