Strange error message, please advise?

I get a box that says my computer does not have enough memory to load fs9 and to run disk clean and try again. What does this mean??? I ran fs9 the other day and it was fine. I still have 54gig left on my C drive.. Anyone have any advice?

Another thing to look at is your virtual memory. Windows partitions part of C drive and uses it like extra ram.

I got a message similar to that a while back. I don't know why it suddenly became an issue, but when I increased the virtual memory the problem went away.

Thanks guys, I'm running scan disc which is compressing old files, and my page file is set at 1920. Max is 3840mb. Should I just crank it up to the max here?

Edit: After some reading on the Microsoft XP info page, the virtual memory should be set at 2.5 times the RAM. I did that, and am using Diskeeper to defrag, which C was pretty fragmented. Thanks for the advice boys.

How much memory you have is what its saying....go to control panel/system/ and see what it says..you most likely have something running hogging resources..... I just was at BestBuy & they had sale on 4gb of ddr2 PC6400 for 99bucks !!!

I get an out of memory warning occasionally when the sim's been running for a while. It's a bug in an addon scenery pack somewhere that gradually eats up your available RAM - ie a memory leak. (FS9 pre SP1 had the same issue in default scenery in the USA). I daresay if I uninstalled all the addon scenery I've added over the last 3 months or so I'd be able to find it.
It's possible you have a system issue but my money would be on it being the same thing - where does your default flight start? Addon scenery? Try uninstalling all addon scenery by commenting it all out of the scenery config then try starting the sim. If that works, add the sceneries one at a time and test.

Fnerg, how much ram does your computer have? And have you looked to see what you have running in the background?

Believe it not this what I tried and it worked so far . I found that my FS Genesis landclass folder that I made up had a blank texture folder that I put in there so I searched and found a few more . I was getting this exact same message sometimes after flying only a half an hour . Good luck on fixing the error . If I find anything else I'll pass it on .

Each time I've gotten the "out of memory" error box in FS9 I've followed LPXO's suggestion and removed recent scenery add-ons. That solved the problem.
