Strange panel problem

If anyone has run into this before, or has an idea, please chime in, it's driving me nuts.

I have several aircraft that when installed, the scenery outside the aircraft blinks, like its reloading the textures over and over and over. Couldn't for the life of me figure out what was causing it, until a last ditch effort had me switch out a panel for a stock panel. That did the trick. No more blinking scenery. Any ideas what could be in a panel that would cause this?

By the way, I've had several panels that worked just fine, then all of a sudden one day after loading that aircraft, blinking scenery, and have to switch out the panel....

I have not had this exact problem but a change to the envbmp file and or the reflection settings in the sim might be driving your graphic card nuts.
Did you change anything in your setup recently ???

It's part software, part hardware. There's a gauge somewhere that's looping (or something similar), and your hardware doesn't want to handle it. I had a few planes that behaved just fine with my previous NVidea card, but with my current ATI card I've had to remove those planes or change the panels because of that very issue.

Hi Astoroth. What aircraft was it that you changed the panel in?

On my new computer, about four months old, with a new install of FS9, On all aircraft installed I get frame rate blinks that is timed to the aircraft lights somehow. Seems like it is tied in to the aircraft strobe lighting. The second I hit "L" to turn off the lights, the framerate suddenly become as smooth as butter. Any aircraft I fly that has lights has this same effect. I had figured it may be due to some aircraft package installed. I certainly do not remember FS9 acting this way prior to this computer with FS9 installed.

I had been meaning to ask about the problem I am having a few weeks back, but I've noticed my problem oh about 2 months ago. Not sure if the your problem and mine are related though.

Ah, so I'm NOT the only one....thought I was going crazy there for a while. I'm trying to track down if there are any gauges common to the offending panels, but it's slow going...

Just off the top of my head, a few of the planes/panels that have given me problems are Milton's Dash 7, Lizardo Guzman (?)'s Boeing 707, and a freeware Piper Seneca panel that I downloaded from Avsim...

And nope, no changes recently.

For the Dash 7, revert back to the non-VC version and see if that helps - that's what I ended up doing. Something in Scott's newer panel just doesn't like my ATI setup. It may well not be a common gauge, but a common gauge coding technique.

Very interesting topic. I too have experienced this. As Astoroth mentions, my water textures will blink from a light blue color before they go normal as I pan around in both VC and exterior spot views. I've noticed on some aircraft, the panels in certain areas would flicker in several areas.
...I'll take note of this and write which aircraft I'm flying down on a tablet for future reference.

I've also got an ATI card

The real pain is when you're in spot view and trying to move the camera angle around. The effect plays heck with that movement.

On some it really hits hard. It literally locks my machine down for a good 5-10 seconds

Yes sir. Sounds like we all have the same disease. How long do we have Doc?
...Frustrating for sure

On my system, it's not just a blink for a couple times and then settle down, it's all textures, ground, water, sky, buildings, plane, everything. They load, go white, reload, go white, reload...endless loop. Only fix is to shut down the sim, change the panel, and restart. Very frustrating.
