Since I installed Norton 2009 I got stutters whenever I'mplaying FS9!:banghead:
Anyone got the same problem?

Edit: could also be an overclocking problem! I think I solved it!:wavey:

Dunno, yet, just bought it this week, haven't installed it yet, maybe now I won't. I'll wait for more responses :d

Hey Cees --

Norton 2009 runs in the background even when you aren't surfing the net or looking at your email.

Try going into your close program window and shutting off Norton, then boot up your FS and have a go.

Must have been the vid card settings, 'cause it's gone now. Just go ahead with Norton, does no harm.

Hate Norton and McAfee, AVG for me all the way. Never an interference unless I try to fly while it's doing its scheduled scan each day. Still no interference in FS9 if I leave everything in the task bar running. For FSX, 'nother matter indeed, shut every non-essential including AVG down.

I used Norton AV for years, then began to see just what a hog it really was running in the background.......the resources it was using just to run was incredible along with the services it had running.

I made a switch last year to Kapersky..........what a difference...it's small in resources.......does a much better job than Norton.....

IMHO..........ditch Norton

No offense mean't

Wait.....................!

I believe I know exactly what this is.

The newest programs (such as Norton, etc), in the past year have a new inner safety program called 'Program Protection' (or something similar sounding).

What this program does, and the way it checks to see if programs are running properly, is it runs a second one in the shadows. This means, FS is running twice (two locations) on your computer.

If you turn off Program Protection, you should be fine.

I agree Caz...I have AVG as well and think it does a much better job than the "other two" mentioned above, with about 1/8th the footprint. Since my system was hacked about 3 years ago I made the switch to AVG and have never had a problem since. Not to put too fine a point on things here but... Dump Norton, go with AVG. Just my ridiculous opinion.

Avg Free is great IMO. Well, except for this past weekend. I kept getting a missing bgl file error and AVG wouldn't run. Had to reinstall 8.0 twice to fix it. Sent them an email about it but no word back yet. I don't dare letit update as that's when the problem started.

Other than that I've had no other problems with it. AVG sure picks up "nasties" in a hurry when they appear.

I had been a hard core Norton fan for years and it was all I every used. Never had that many problems, but wanted to try out a few others. I have been stuck with the AVG security software for couple of years and have had no problems so far....knock on wood:icon_lol:

I'm a "clean and efficient" PC nut, so after trying many virus softwares, i find NOD32 to be the best. It uses little memory but it does a lot. Plus their customer support is great (i just recently had a license issue, and they resolved it very quickly).

I've used Norton before, but it just uses (hogs) way to much system resources.
