Successful landings

BeauBrummie

Home for tea and tiffin!
For me I've always found landing the hardest part of any mission. So I've put a bit of practice in with the Beau. The first tricky bit was returning from a mission with functioning hydraulics for the landing gear & flaps, which with the anti-shipping missions is very difficult. Patience in getting the right approach is always a problem for me too. But I managed it several times and most rewarding it was to see the successful pilot leave the aircraft. I wish he looked happier though!

Well done that man, Land nearer to the officers mess, then he might cheer up,

Beau, I still think the ME-109 is the roughest one for take-offs and landings, especially on a grass field. It took me over a year to figure that one out, I think.....:isadizzy:

So, try to land the MS-406 (Morane-Saulnier) in the wind...

Me too Jeff, always satisfying to get down in one piece, especially having just survived a mission.
Nice piccies! :medals:

No, no, no

You got it all wrong :d:d; it's the FP B-24 that's the hardest to get down in one piece. It seems it simply doesn't want to loose speed. I nearly always overshoot the runway. The thing keeps on zooming horizontally along the tarmac when I pull back for the flare (or crashes short of the threshold when loosing too much speed too soon).
A normal landing like I have made in most 'normal' CFS3 a/c has to happen yet in this bird... (unless I use a dedicated bomber airfield with a very long runway - and then I have to step hard on the brakes...)

@Nonato: You serious?? The thing doesn't have any torque, it's simply a matter of starting your engines and shoving the throttles forward... :d

Want tricky? try B-29. it needs most of UK to get up when loaded. landing..? well.. where's that landing hook when you really need it? :icon_lol:

I like the Beaufighter to land. I must admit there's many a campaign mission where the ships have shot me up so badly I have to crank the gear down manually. Sometimes have to land without flaps - the trick that works for me is to turn the engine off immediately upon landing if shot up, because the brakes don't always work :blind:

oh, and the AI just love the beau!! most of my wingmen actually get to survive the landing!! :icon29:

landing ..

frist off whatever your flying read the manuel or help file to assist - tips and understanding of speed flaps etc,,,,,

then go for i t

landing i seem to be good at .touch wood ,

I remember a tricky one from my days in AHII. For whatever reason,I ended up in a german bomber,(think it was a JU), and also had one of my squad leaders riding gunner. We had just took off as the base was
getting attacked by at least four players. Before I even got 1500ft,one of the attackers hit the right
engine and set it on fire. Now I'm cussin and hollerin that our intended mission was useless,I begin to
bank right to circle back around for a runway approach.

Well we get circled around, get my line up situated and begin to descend when one of the attackers
comes in behind at about 800ft. I'm grittin-n-sweatin now as I activate the landing gear, and then
realize I only have left side working! I start laughing and cussin the attacker behind me as I hear his
guns blazing at my tail, I bring the plane down gracefully on one leg, tail dragging as the enemy player
gives one last short burst before he had to jerk it back up from the runway. Plane stopped in
one peice! Got a reputation for miracle landings no doubt.

Do S truns to bleed off speed. All the flaps you got, ELEVATOR trim for landing. This is my biggest pain. Also, if you can find the true wind, land into it.

Try landing with the Hs123. It's like flying a sheet of paper with a rubber band powered toothpic for a prop. The lift is insane on that thing. Don't even get started with dive bombing. Oh my lord. I need to get a seatbelt for my chair...
