Gripen :

Following further cutbacks in their defence budget the command
structure within the Swedish Armed Forces is now more streamlined.

There is now only 6 x Jas-39C/D Gripen squadrons, 2 x squadrons
for each of these 3 x Home Operating bases ( HOB ) :

F21 Lulea /Kallax ( ESPA )
F17 Ronneby ( ESDF )
F7 Satenas ( ESIB )

Is the Malmen Air base (ESCF) in Linköping for Gripens closed? On a Finnish television channel there is at the moment going on a series of Gripen pilots training which is taking place on Malmen (this series is made a couple of years ago).

Regard Malmen, Linkoping

Hi PHo17

The F3 Malmen airfield in Linkoping is now a helicopter school.

JAS39 Gripen training school is F7 Satenas (Såtenäs), ESIB.

I´m living just near Malmen airfield. Somtime the Gripen fly from Malmen.

The sound from Gripen is very loud compare to Viggen and Draken.

Near Malmen is also "Air Force Museum" (Flygvapenmuseum) with all important

aircraft used by the Swedish Air Force.

Best Regard

Thanks for the info DennyBoy. That swedish film series of flight training is fine anyhow. I hope there would be something like it of the Finnish Airforce training too, but I am afraid that such doesn't exist (for the public at least).
