T-33A blank templates?

Hi, guys!

Although there's a parallel thread at the FSX forum, I'd like to post this question here too:
Does anyone know of blank templates (or even a paint kit) for Piglet's venerable T-Bird?

I have a certain version waiting to get started:

Paint shed is waiting... :jump:

Cheers,
Markus.

I have made a paint kit for the T-33 that can probably be adapted for FS9. Currently the textures are 4096x4096 (imagine how crisp that would be if FS9 would accept that size texturing, lol). I will make a reduced set and zip them up for you.:salute:

I sure hope when you finish this fantastic paint you'll share with all of minion that don't have the re-paint skills but still love simming. I like your choice for a new texture that looks out of this world cool.

Ol' Jarhead:wavey:

Markus, I had to upload the paint kit to the Upload section as it was over 35meg. Remember though that these textures are 4096x4096 (originally made for FSX), hence the zipfile size. Your final repaint sizes will vary obviously. Also, the model by Tim Conrad does not allow for the really high gloss polished aluminum look. We mulled that over in the FSX Forum when we were working on repaints over there. A native FSX model was built and I believe has that ability, but not the original.:salute:

@ norab:
Thanks for the HU! For some odd reason, I failed finding this one in the archives... :isadizzy:

@ falcon409:
Thanks a ton for releasing the kit! :salute:
I think this could be the beginning of a big "T-Bird Revival"...

Uploading of course is the plan!
Repainting without sharing doesn't make much sense in my eyes...

The crispyness of the huge texture resolution in FSX is highly tempting.
So this one will be released for both worlds! Time to fire up my FSX copy again...

Stay tuned.

Cheers,
Markus.

First sketch...

... quick & dirty - as usual:

Blending the coloured parts with the blank metal areas and adjusting the (quite massive) reflections of the high polished finish should take a while, but I think this will become a very fine T-Bird!

Cheers,
Markus.

Getting closer...

Due to texture resolution, some of the lines appear rather jagged -no chance getting rid of it.
The FSX version with a blasting 4096 res should become much crispier.

Errrrr - sorry, mate!
The T-Bird is currently set on a side burner:
Initially, the plan was to finish the big-rez FSX paint and then to look if the smaller FS9 paint could take any more advantages from its bigger brother. But it seemed like my FSX (SP1 only) install refuses to put the reflective shine on the model. So the FSX paint is on hold.

The current FS9 paint (as seen above) was almost ready to rock, but then Milton's breathtaking Kansan stepped into the way - and my education told me to yield to old ladies. By now, the paint shed is occupied by two Kiwi paints on the Kansan, so the (FS9) T-33A will get completed after their launch...

Sorry for the delay!

Cheers,
Markus.

Markus,

"TWO" Kiwi repaints! I saw the one that you posted in the other thread, what's the second one look like? I can wait a while on the T-33 for more Kansan repaints! LOL!!! Thanks!

Dave

Well, #2 should have been ZK-AHO in the later white paint she wore until drawn out of service in 1980. But since this overall white paint desires some deeper adjustments on the base textures (primarily suitable for metal paints) which will take a little longer, it won't be a bad idea to finish up the T-Bird first.
Thanks for your patience anyway! :salute:

Cheers,
Markus.

Nearly done...

There was one specific issue awaiting its cure.
The black outline of the tail marking got smeared towards the fuselage's top:

Due to the rather low texture resolution, I couldn't get rid of those nasty jaggies.
With a heavy heart, I've re-adjusted these markings to this:

Hope you can live with this divergence...

Upload proceeded.
Enjoy!

Cheers,
Markus.

:ernae:Thanks Markus, nice, slick scheme for one of my all-time favourites!
What sounds do you use on this bird (I've been using the F-86 by Christoffer petersen)?

Thanks Markus, she looks like a real dreamboat - and don't worry about the "divergence", you've done an absolutely stunning job!

Thanks a lot, guys! :salute:
