Hello Ted,

Hopefully after the first of the year I plan on building a new FSX PC. I'd like to get your advice if you will please.

My build will be in the range of $1500.00 - $1800.00 from the case up (max 2K) I would like it to be the best I can get. Intel based, but AMD is considered.
.....Can you assist me?

No problem Amigo. I'll PM ya a list and alternatives tonight
Ted

We better make that Tue night...I'm swamped!

Four DIMM slots on the Gigabyte, for DDR3? Color me confused, as I thought for tri-channel to work there had to be three matching ram modules? Maybe they went and changed things and I didn't get a copy of the memo?:costum:

What is the exact motherboard you have? My at TechCorp ASUS Sabretooth X-58 and Gigabyte X-58 UD5 has three sets of memory banks of six slots total for Tri-Channel. Is yours a P55A with two banks of 4 slots total? In that case it would use DDR3 Dual channel.

I've got an EVGA with six DIMM slots, but they don't all work like they should...

I was just curious about the Gigabyte that is the link from Guru3D listing four slots for DDR3. So I guess it's set up to use the DDR3 under dual channel?

And just an OT update, I'm the guy who bought the EVGA mobo and the i7 930, but it only shows 4gb out of 6gb for RAM. I've got to move my desk, which means all the computer stuff and I'm going to bite the bullet and tear the computer down. Some comments at the EVGA forums mention the CM V-8 being so heavy it might tweak the pins on the CPU, even though SiSoft's SANDRA shows three modules installed! So I'll try fitting the stock Intel cooler and see what shows. If it's 4gb in the BIOS then I will get my first exposure to EVGA's support system and RMA procedures. Urrggghhh, Merry Christmas, I hope?
